He's gonna do it guys. Sure, it took him until 30, but he's gonna make it past the 2nd round.

Neither.....

NBA championship use to mean something in an ultra competitive NBA league.

Now, it can be brought thru collusion, tons of last minute trades before deadlines or simply jumping ship to a more popular city with championship DNA from before.

Olympics Gold will not mean a thing until we have 1-on-1 ala Dr J VS Kareem Pay Per View event back in the day.

The Best American 1-on-1 player should compete for Olympic gold against each countries best 1-on-1 player.

I'm not sure how valuable either of those would be to someone in a vacuum. I think a pocket knife would have far more utility in such a scenario.

But that's just me.

If you win an Olympic Gold, but not with Team USA, that's worth more than an NBA championship.

If you're American, I would say an Olympic medal is about as valuable as an NBA championship.
An Olympic Gold only comes around once in 4 years, BUT you get a stacked team so it's easier.
You get a stacked team, BUT it's harder to make the team in the first place.
So it evens out.

Embiid is a ****ing coward why isn't he playing for his country he's not from America he's only playing for team USA as he's basically guaranteed to win a gold medal. Winning a gold medal for a country you're not even from is meaningless

It will be so funny if team USA somehow don't win

Is there any Olympic gold medalist who's ranked above an NBA champ just based on his olympic gold medal? Never heard an argument like: Michael Redd is greater than Shawn Marion, because he has an olympic gold medal. People wouldn't even rank him above Amare who has neither.

Hehe.

Haha. Nah, but the answer is simple. If you are not from US, it’s medal. If you are, rang.

And nah these dudes who mostly grew up in us don’t count. Imagine joker getting gold.

Best 1 on 1 player is not necessarily the best 5 on 5 player, which is the only thing that matters at the end of the day. Unless the sport gets changed entirely to be 1 on 1s.

Deadass, there’s no reason 1 on 1 isn’t an olympic sport. Bball is such an amazing game. Works 5v5, 3v3, and 1v1. I don’t think even soccer can go 1v1.

Of course you gotta find people with nuts, but once whoever started playing and they started winning, nba dudes would come in, even if it was bench guys.

1 on 1 bball is crazy cutthroat competition.

Usa should win so its not close to winning a ring

A lot of NBA teams start the season in a position where they "should win."

Lebron's never have but nevertheless many others do.

Correct.

These are the current odds for the Olympics.

https://i.postimg.cc/bNNzXb3Y/Screenshot-20240708-092132-Chrome.jpg

Those are monster blowout odds. Nobody's legacy is enhanced by winning as such huge favorites.

But it makes me think... if you threw down like 20 grand on Team USA... wouldn't that be the easiest 5 grand profit you could possibly make?

Olympic is not top level basketball. It's a bunch of guys thrown together. The level is much lower than NBA or Euroleague.

It definitely is top level basketball since literally every one of the best basketball players in the world are competing in it.

The problem is most of them are all on one team. So the parity is trash. USA and Europe as a whole are similar size. But Europe is split into dozens of factions which dilutes every roster.

Id like to see Team USA face Team Europe. Jokic, Luka, Giannis, Wemby, Gobert etc. That would be an awesome match to see.

But looking @ it even closer I think Team California could win it all quite easily. Lebron, AD, Curry, Fox, Derozan, Reaves, etc. That's pretty filthy.
