in his 3rd year, hands down the next face of a point guard. don't say b-dub, b-dub co-incides with nash's and j kidd's era.

Three good-to-become-great PGs: Chris Paul, Deron Williams, Brandon Roy.

just because Paul cant shoot doesnt make him a pure pg...
Paul isnt even a top 5 pg in the league and its gonna get harder and harder...D-Will is a complete pg and a triple threat player(not many players like that left in the NBA)...Meaning he can shoot, drive/finish, and pass all at a high level...

because he lost and no signs of his teammates say we are indeed a better team when our pg has to be the offensive threat for us. no pg has to be the focal point of opponents

you forgot Parker... so CP3 is out of the list... he'll make the list... if his team starts winning...
Paul>Williams

Williams was always a second option. In HS Bracey Wright was better, in College Dee Brown was better and in the NBA Paul owns him. I think we all saw who is better in the rookie-sophmore challenge.

Deron is a great facilitator, but not as true of a point guard as Paul.
Deron has more of a scoring mentality, and an efficient scorer when he is given the attempts, couple that with his ability to facilitate the offense, and his great man-defense is why I'd take him over Paul.

He runs the same offense John Stockton did... Who most people would consider the purest PG in NBA history.

Dee Brown may have won the awards, but no one had him rated higher than Deron.

Top 5 PGs:
1) Tony Parker (uncomparable explosiveness; more reliable J, and some rings)
2) Steve Nash (He could be #1 if he could win a title)
3) Deron Williams (Great decision-making, can score at will, and a warrior)
4) Baron Davis (Uptempo game, can score at will, but his D is weak.)
5) Chauncey Billups (Veteran PG who orchestrates the Pistons O, and rarely makes a mistake.)

Jason Kidd is over the hump. A fluke appearance in the finals and getting swept by the Lakers doesn't necessarily count as a "great" performance.

he's still the league leader in triple doubles
he's still the most consistant playmaker in the league not from Canada
he's still at least better than Billups...

Well this logic tells you that Paul Millsap and Rudy Gay should have been co-rookies of the year.

its really to close to call anyone of these guys better than the others. its a close race behind nash and kidd.
It's hard to say who is better between Deron Williams and Chris Paul.
Deron definately had a great season, but it's not hard for a point guard to have a great season when the team is clicking the way Utah did.
And New Orleans had so much bad luck...
Things are going to change next season. I think NO is going to come come out strong. If they can stay healthy, and no team is this unlucky twice in a row, they are just a very solid team. The Hornets are also much more Chirs Paul's team then the Jazz are Deron's.

I don't know about that. Williams has got the ball to Boozer in the lane through traffic a lot in the fourth quarter of the playoffs. Williams can make plays just fine.

It is the PG's job to make sure the team clicks. Paul's inability to do that for his team is just one more weakness to add to the list:
1) Injuries (whether he sits or not, the man is frail)
2) Consistent loser (didn't win in college, hasn't won in the NBA, didn't win on Team USA...I bet he doesn't even win arm-wrestling against his girlfriend)
3) Can't lead team

There is a minimum amount of offensive skill required to make a team "click". Because of injuries his main weapons for a huge amount of the time he was playing were Mason and Chandler, and he was the only somewhat consistant 3pt shooter on the team.
