That's a great resume, but if we're talking all time, a number of players have a better resume. Doesn't even come close to Jordan's.

Of course there are better resumes. I am asking for specific names (modern era only, can make an exception for Kareem).

MJ is just one name.

Modern era as in what, post 3 point era? Jordan, LeBron & Kareem would be the obvious ones. Besides them? While you could argue other guys like Duncan, Magic & Bird over him, you could argue Shaq over anybody else besides those consensus top 3 players.

I feel like Shaq has honestly become underrated post retirement. I see him considered as almost this fringe top 10 player. And the claim he had poor longevity is legitimately the biggest myth in NBA history, as evidenced by him making 14 All-NBA Teams, just one less than guys praised for their longevity like Kareem, Duncan & Kobe.

Bird's is arguably better.

3× NBA champion (1981, 1984, 1986)
2× NBA Finals MVP (1984, 1986)
3× NBA Most Valuable Player (1984–1986)
12× NBA All-Star (1980–1988, 1990–1992)
NBA All-Star Game MVP (1982)
9× All-NBA First Team (1980–1988)
All-NBA Second Team (1990)
3× NBA All-Defensive Second Team (1982–1984)
NBA Rookie of the Year (1980)

So is Lebron's, if you don't count his many choke jobs:

4× NBA champion (2012, 2013, 2016, 2020)
4× NBA Finals MVP (2012, 2013, 2016, 2020)
4× NBA Most Valuable Player (2009, 2010, 2012, 2013)
19× NBA All-Star (2005–2023)
3× NBA All-Star Game MVP (2006, 2008, 2018)
13× All-NBA First Team (2006, 2008–2018, 2020)
3× All-NBA Second Team (2005, 2007, 2021)
3× All-NBA Third Team (2019, 2022, 2023)
5× NBA All-Defensive First Team (2009–2013)
NBA All-Defensive Second Team (2014)

But Shaq's easily a top ten of all time, so you're not going to find many with a better resume in the modern era.

Resume's don't tell the full story though.

Lool I like dude but damn. As a c without dpoys and all dz it kinda sucks. Most glaring is 1 mvp. When dudes won b2b. Or b2b2b. Fmvp three peat is lovely tho. If u consider said player only played serious in the playoffs after a certain point and look at his playoff resume, he’s up there.

Mvp is media as is asg, but finals mvp is diff. It can still get u hoed like iggy on curry, but in general being the best player on a championship team… 3x in a row… is special. Nobody mentions 15-1. Add that in. ****in iverson heh.

Edit: rip since Bron was mentioned thred is ded.

Resume's don't tell the full story though.

Lebron has a better resume than Shaq.

However I think Shaq has a slightly better resume than Bird. Bird has the 3MVP to 1MVP advantage which is big, but Shaq has better longevity, and a better prime/peak in the playoffs.

Shaq has more rings, more FMVPs, more all-nbas, and more all star appearances than Bird. Shaq had 3 of the best finals of all time. Bird has two super elite finals wins.

Shaq 14-year prime stats:
26/12/3 with 2.5 blocks, 58.4 TS%, 27.8 PER, 6.1 BPM, .224 WS/48

Bird 11-year prime stats:
25/10/6 with 1.8 steals, 56.7 TS%, 23.9 PER, 7.1 BPM, .210 WS/28

StrongLurk

Best 10 year playoff prime for Shaq, Bird, KD.

Shaq (95-04, 155 games): 27/13/3 with 2.4 blocks
28.3 PER, 56.8 TS%, .212 WS/48, 6.9 BPM - 5 finals, 3 rings/3 FMVPs with insane peak finals play

Bird (80-90, 150 games): 25/10/6 with 1.8 steals
21.8 PER, 55.5 TS%, .181 WS/48, 7.3 BPM - 5 finals, 3 rings/2 FMVPS (81 ring is mid, 84/86 rings are elite)

KD (11-21, 145 games): 30/8/4 with 1 steal/1block
24.9 PER, 60.4 TS%, .205 WS/48, 7.4 BPM, 3 finals/2 FMVPs - was on most stacked team of all time for FMVPs but still won both FMVPs and went h2h with Lebron.

Bird based on production isn't a clear favorite compared to Shaq or KD. He actually has slightly worse advanced stats.

What do we say about this era when a play-in team with a bunch of undrafted players beat the top two seeds in the East to make the Finals?
