From what i remember he picked 24 because there are 24 seconds on the shot clock and he thinks he dominates all of them.

I don't think it was a brag, Kobe did it like a goal he was reaching for. Jordan as clearly the guy he measured himself against so wearing that number +1 over Jordan is a way of saying "that's where I want to be, that's what's going to drive me".

Same thing with the Olympics he wore no.10 when Jordan wore no.9.

It's more of an aspirational thing like "I'm such a crazy mother****er, screw being like Mike, I'm gonna put it on my chest as a challenge to myself to be better".

Which is fine. That's the attitude all great players should have. Nothing disrespectful there, if anything it's the ultimate sign of respect that another player views you as the pinacle that they are working their ass off to try and get better than.
