Dude, people have been ranting about refs rigging games for as long as basketball has been a pro sport. I don't buy it. It's one of the toughest sports to officiate, and refs frequently make boneheaded calls. Doesn't mean they're rigging the game.

It’s also tougher with stars because refs don’t want to be shamed for not calling it the right way for them. It’s a natural human instinct to give them the benefit of the doubt. They did a similar study in baseball 10 or so years ago showing that home teams consistently got more favorable ball/strike calls. The umps subconsciously don’t want to be jeered and potentially threatened by a large crowd.

Every great player in NBA history has benefited from this. It is what it is and it’s not gonna change.
