Never got to see Ben play live cause i stopped watching the nba in 1998 and restarted watching the nba in 2008 so i missed his prime but from the videos i've seen he seems awesome. What was he like a 6'7 ft or 6'8 ft center?

Hakeem, Deke, Zo, Drob were all better imo. Severely undersized to be called the best/devastating especially if you consider that he was blocking less shots than a ton of guys peak for peak.

This. Among them maybe I would put Hakeem at the top. What about the 80s? Weren't there great shot-blockers like Mark Eaton? Let's see if old posters can enlighten us on the subject.

That block at the end of the video on Shaq is insane.

It's Wilt Chamberlain. Blocks weren't recorded for most of his career, but if they were, his numbers would be out of this world.

Someone in the book Giants: Big Men Who Shook the NBA is quoted as saying that someone informally counted Wilt's blocks, and one night the number reached 25.

Also, in Wilt's 112 games where block data was recorded, he averaged 8.8 blocks per game.

Eaton sucked

Eaton i think got Defensive Player of The Year Award. The dude was averaging near to 6 bpg. He was 7'4 ft with long arms. Players today don't take too much inside shots so he probably would have a lesser bpg average today. But back in the day when it wasn't a 3-point fest the dude was intimidating as hell.

he couldn't play today. He was big and could stand with his arms in the air. Not sure if he plays for anyone but the Jazz even then

Maybe so. He was a bit slow footed but he was so large and had a major wingspam that he didn't need to jump in order to get his hands at rim level. He was also broad shouldered and heavy unlike Manute Bol. Different era styles and way of playing. The rules also did not favor wings back then. That is why Jordan standed out so much.
