This season has to be the last dance for the Utah Jazz. They’ve had too many major playoff failures to believe that Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert will win them a championship.

In the 2018 playoffs, Mitchell was young and fearless. He performed way above expectations, beating the Thunder when they had Paul George and prime Russell Westbrook. But the Jazz have come up short in every single postseason since then.

In 2019 they went down to the Houston Rockets in 5 and lost two games by 20+ points. In 2020 they blew a 3-1 lead to the Denver Nuggets.

Last season they blew a 2-0 lead to lose 4-2 against the Clippers despite Kawhi Leonard getting injured mid-series. They were up 22 at half-time in Game 6 and lost by 12 as Gobert was completely run off the floor.

If Mitchell and Gobert blow it again this year, the time will have come to break them up.

Mitchell and O'Neale for Westbrook seems fair...

the Guard/3-point heavy era somehow created the phenomenon where big men froze out on defense during the play-off

Morris Kennard and zubac for Gobert works successfully via trade tinder.

Gobert needs a true alpha teammate like kawhi

Gobert needs a true alpha teammate like kawhi

or he can just give away his salary to his current teammates

Playoff failures? They've lost once as the favorite and were missing their 2nd best player. Gobert has never been better. Mitchell is better. I can't see breaking them up when they've yet to peak. New coach ok. New 6th man sure

Does a team who’s never made it past the 2nd round really get a “Last Dance” qualifier?

Bit premature. I'd wait another 2-3 years. Simple retool might be ideal.

By then Mitchell starts eyeing a bigger market.

Gobert has never been better.

with 7 games left to play while being listed as questionable, Gobert will at most play 66 games this season.

and he's been better in those games than ever before at both ends. The problem as always is when Gobert is not on the floor

you'd have to agree that in order to be a basketball player, they should be a person/human being first right. no need to let someone who isn't a person to be on the basketball floor.

Mavs would be a 3-peat dynasty with Gobert.

Have yet to see a conference finals trip with this duo.
