Back when LeGoat could run down people to block shots, and was an automatic 3 steals a game, he should have had at least 2 DPOY to add to his resume.

He could've maybe won in 2013, but besides that? I wouldn't have voted for him over Dwight the years he won, and since 2014 he'd have no argument.

People complain about MVP all the time, but DPOY has even less accurate results. The fact Duncan & Pippen never won once, ditto KG in Minny, kinda speaks volumes on how unreliable the voting process for that award is.

3 steals a game? In what world did that happen? I think your mistaking bron for mj man.

As far as 2 dpoys i have to disagree. He didn't impact the game defensively as much as some rim protectors that were elite defensively.

To be fair i don't think mj deserved the 1 he got either.

Marc Gasol wasn't even first team all defense in the year he won the award. He had no business winning, especially over LeBron.

I absolutely agree that LeBron should have one DPOY award on his resume from 2013 and it's a travesty that he doesn't. But I don't really see any other year that he should have won it. His second best year defensively is probably 2009 and there's no way you justify him over Dwight Howard.

I used to get really angry about Lebron’s lack of DPoY acknowledgement by the LAMEstream media, but eventually I realized all that matters is the FAT, JUICY dpoy trophy he’s got in his pants, and that’s something nobody can ever take from him, unless he hooks up with Lorena Bobbit.

So in that sense, Ivd found peace on the matter.

That shit happened b2b years :lol Chandler won DPOY the year before and wasn't All-Defensive 1st Team either. As I said, for all the shit MVP voters get, the ones voting for defense, between this, Duncan/Pippen never winning, Kobe making All-Defensive First Team 9x, their decisions have been much more egregious.

The reason for those discrepancies in the past like the DPOY not making the 1st Team All-Defense is that the media votes for DPOY while the head coaches voted for all-defensive teams prior to 2014. Since 2014, the media votes for both.

Well there is 30 coaches in the league but 128 media members who vote. I honestly think it should be back to one of each... All-Defensive teams by coaches and DPOY by media. If they sometimes disagree so be it.

that's actually an interesting comparison. neither are good on ball defenders and are more known for either chase down blocks or playing passing lanes

both are forms of bad defense because if you're playing passing lanes or in position for a chase down both then odds are you weren't anywhere near rebounding position or guarding your man. you're hovering near the 3 point line looking for cheap stats
