Let's say the Bulls got a chance to draft High School LeBron in 1984 instead of Jordan.

How many titles does LeBron win for the Bulls?

Here is how I think it would go.

1984-1985 Bulls with 2003-2004 Lebron - the Bulls miss the playoffs.

1985-1986 Bulls with 2004-2005 Lebron - first-round loss.

1986 -1987 Bulls with 2005-2006 Lebron- first-round loss.

1987-1988 Bulls with 2006 -2007 Lebron - second-round loss.

1988-1989 Bulls with 2007-2008 Lebron - second-round loss.

1989-1990 Bulls with 2008-2009 Lebron- finals loss

1990-1991 Bulls with 2009- 2010 Lebron - title

1991 -1992 Bulls with 2010- 2011 Lebron - finals loss.

1992-1993 Bulls with 2011-2012 Lebron- a very hard-fought title as the Suns push them to seven games in the finals.

1993- 1994 Bulls with 2012- 2013 Lebron- Easy title.

1994- 1995 Bulls with 2013-2014 Lebron- finals loss.

1995- 1996 Bulls with 2014-2015 Lebron a very hard-fought title.

1997 Bulls with 2015-2016 Lebron title.

1997-1998 Bulls with 2016- 2017 Lebron title.

Lebron has a completely different style of play, and I doubt it would have fit with Phil Jackson's triangle offense. Also Jordan was a way better defender.

I think it's pretty certain the Bulls as a team wouldn't have meshed nearly as well with Lebron. Lebron with the Bulls may have been able to pull off a championship or two, seeing how the Bulls really did have a stacked team, but he definitely wasn't going to be three-peating twice.

I have the Bulls winning six titles still with Lebron from 1990 to 1998.

They only three-peat once instead of twice.

But at the very least they do make a couple of extra finals appearances.

Lebron in his prime from 2009 to 2013 was a better defender than Jordan.

But I agree with your overall point about maybe Lebron not fitting in with the triangle offence that Phill Jackson used.

Hard to say. I think mj and pip were a perfect fit because they had different rolls and games. Pip and bron are more similar. They have similar strengths and weaknesses. The bulls neede mj to be a volume scorer and take on a huge scoring load. Volume scoring isn't brons strength. They obviously win some chips i just don't think they win 6. Maybe 4 or so.

To be fair if we switch roles the same can be said with mj pairing with kyrie or even wade.

He can guard literally anybody on the floor Steve Kerr during the 2012 Eastern Conference Finals talking about LeBron’s defensive versatility.

How does Pippen develop as a ball-handler alongside a ball-dominator like Lebron?

Consider that Ingram's 3-point efficiency and advanced stats were growing every year until a 1-year drop alongside Lebron - then his growth resumed in New Orleans away from Lebron.. That's a pretty big statistical occurance that demonstrates Lebron's effect on other ballhandlers..

Other guys like Larry Hughes achieved 22/6/5 and 1st team defense in 2005, aka Lebron was gifted a player that was already achieving peak Pippen production, but reduced him to a spot-up role and nothing... Kuzma faced the same fate - it will be interesting to see if he turns into an all-star away from Lebron like Ingram did..

Guys like Wade, Clarkson, Rose, IT and other ballhandlers have also looked bad alongside Lebron.. Only elite shooters like Mo and Kyrie survived alongside Lebron, so it's impossible that a scrawny, rookie bricklayer like Pippen would develop alongside a Westbrook-style player like Lebron - this is especially true because Lebron is a frontcourt ball-dominator, which impinges on Pippen more than Westbrook would.

Otoh, Pippen developed alongside Jordan because Jordan was a great assist target (off-ball player), which elevates Pippen's role, while Lebron's ball-dominance would turn him into a spot-up shooter like he did to all the players mentioned above.

You can't just swap players in and out, especially ones with vast stylistic differences, and just expect the same results. Right off the top, Lebron's presence on the team makes Pip redundant. You'd need different players and maybe even a system other than the triangle. Also, we're assuming that Lebron ends up exactly the same player. All of these 'what ifs' never take into account that dropping a player into a different era likely produces something different from what we know. If you ripped Bill Russell from 1960 and brought him into 2000 he's not going to develop the same skillset, he's going to see all the similar size players that have come along up to that point and model his game after them.

The only 5's Lebron can guard are perimeter centers. He never could guard quality low-post centers. Shaq, Olajuwon, Ewing, Robinson, and Mourning would've taken his lunch money.

The real question is how would those 2004 through 2010 Cavs team had done in a hypothetical world with Jordan.

Anyone believe they actually make the Finals in 2007 even? lol.

60 wins? Really? Anyone actually believe that?

Lebron lost in embarassing fashion in the years where he only had 1 all-star teammate (05', 09', 18'), unless that guy is outproducing him (AD)..

So Lebron never won without super-teams as the clear-cut top producer, so he can't win with just 1 all-star teammate (that averages far less than him) like those Bulls.
