Can you imagine this starting five?

Russell Westbrook
DeMar DeRozan
LeBron James
Anthony Davis
Andre Drummond

:biggums:

On paper, it looks scary but the reality is the shooting and spacing are not there for LeBron James.

That would be a horrendous starting five when it comes to spacing. Teams would literally just build a wall in the paint and clog up Lebron's and Westbrook's driving lanes. You dont want/need Derozan when you have Westbrook.

I'm one who's not. It's just that Lebron never really gets the point. He's relied on recruitment and superteams throughout his career and he's never going to stop.

No way he takes 5.9 mil.

Taxpayer's MLE is 9.5mill, but it would hard cap us. Non-taxpayer's MLE is around 6mill, but that would not hard cap us. Depending on the order the Lakers sign the players (including Schroeder even if it's a s&t), that should determine which one we use. So we would probably have an agreement in place first before we start officially signing everyone.

We don't actually yet know the exact cap limit

He doesn't fit anymore either. You don't want a backcourt of DeRozan/Westbrook. DeRozan was a good option had we acquired Hield to team with him. Westbrook needs a Hield too, not a DeRozan.

the reason lebron's teams often lack good shooting is because HE HIMSELF lacks elite jumpshooting skill (as the top producer) and only takes open jumpshots - this is statistical fact - 90% of his jumpers are open, compared to 60-70% for KD, Kawhi or Harden.

when your top guy only takes open jumpers, that's insanely exploitable by the other team - the other team becomes the more aggressive team and blows away lebron's safe, efficiency-driven approach..

team production > team efficiency - the highest scoring team wins, not the most efficient... the 14' Heat had the best shooting efficiency against the Spurs than any other Spurs opponent, but lost by the most because their team PPG was the lowest of any Spurs opponent.

on bailout volume.

anytime he had more than bailout volume (more than 1.5 attempts), he shot well..

3-point shots are mostly open, so good shooters will have better percentages at higher volumes - jordan never had enough volume to "get hot" from deep... the closest he got was the 93' Playoffs and 92' Finals (4 attempts at 40%).

Ultimately, Jordan has the best jumpshooting form of all-time and is the goat 2-point jumpshooter.... Among the all-time athletes (Wilt, Jordan, Lebron, Dr. J, Kemp, Zion, etc), Jordan is the only one that was an all-time jumpshooter on 2's or 3's.. the only all-time athlete-shooter in history, aka goat

So in other words LeBron is smart...because he's not stupid enough to consistently take ill-advised shots from three that have a low percentage rate? Do I have that correct?

derozan will look like 06 kobe if he comes into the game playing against the bench the way the spurs used to use ginobili. right now he gets guarded by the best defenders in the league and still puts up some of the best midrange shooting in the league.

The shooting and spacing isn't there because Lebron himself lacks elite jumpshooting skill - if he could pop off, the Lakers wouldn't need much else, maybe 1 other shooter on the floor alongside him.

Replace Lebron with Durant in the list above, and it looks a lot different... but as it stands, Buddy Hield wouldn't be enough shooting help.

That's not his game so he sticks to what he does best and what is wrong with that? If I recall his style of play brought him more rings and more accolades in the NBA than Kevin Durant. So that`s one.
Two, Carmelo is probably going to sign with them, DeRozan is strongly considering (even though, he still can't shoot threes). I am sure they can find a knockdown shooter at the bare minimum.
