And it wasn’t nearly their best even vs the Nuggets. They held them to 53 points another game in that era.
Just glance through and tell me what you think about what you see. I feel there’s a “Great defense!” vs “Those players are terrible and they play stupid offense” argument to be had. I don’t intend to have it but I’m here to lay the ground work. Just let me know what you think of the GOAT defenses performance there.

Didn’t this just happen to the Jazz? Nearly the same amount of consecutive missed shots

Yes it was 20 or so. I’m not sure what the record would be. Rockets missed 27 but that was 3s. They made some layups in that run.

Teams today in the playoffs should take notes on how to play actual defense studying this Pistons team defensive schemes, because this is a lost art, these Pistons were shutting everyone down.

Yeah, it’s not like the league plays with a completely different strategy and under a completely different set of rules that completely favors the offense

Watching this reminds me how I used to feel so frustrated back then. A good NBA team should be able to break the press, but I can't remember that ever really happening. Lindsey Hunter wasn't blown by and left chasing.

Change in offensive strategies wouldn't really matter. Changes in rules does. But they'd still be a very good defense.

The bulls shredded Rick Pitinos when he was a Celtic.

There was no element of surprise to Pitino's press. That was his whole schtick. Teams prepped for it.

They bugged the bulls in some games Pippen missed. They won one of them when MJ went 7-23. Usually it was fine though.

Nuggets ran a ton of isos and Melo was missing point blank layups. That was kinda on them. You can see the dramatic difference in spacing when your point guard and center can't shoot from range. Nowadays defenders have to come out more and they're not in closer position to help or double.
