LeBron just won a finals where his third best player averaged 12.8 on .377 shooting.

The third highest game score for a Lakers player in the finals was 8.6.

Even though Pippen needed Jordan, only Pippen was not sufficient as was blatantly obvious in the 1995 playoffs. He always needed a legit third wheel in Grant/Rodman.

Pippen + Grant - Jordan in 1994: Lost in the 2nd round in 7 on an extremely controversial call, to a team that went on to lose in 7 in the finals
Pippen + Jordan - Grant in 1995: Lost in the 2nd round in 6 completely legit, to a team that went on to get swept in the finals

Jordan still required Scottie Pippen, Phil Jackson and Horace Grant in 1992 and Scottie Pippen, Phil Jackson and Dennis Rodman in 1997. Those three people were non-negotiable. If Jordan was without even one of them he would not even make the finals let alone win anything.

While that third option was an all-defensive selection.
The closest Jordan came to winning with just Pippen was his first chip in 91, and the 91 version of Horace Grant mops the floor with whoever you consider to be the third best player on this Lakers squad.

Rather than Jordan ruining the moment for any of us, to cut him down to size after another title is our trip to Disneyland. He tried to control the narrative during the summer with his documentary but we get the last laugh of 2020.

So this is what it's all about. And MJ is screwed because he can't win any more titles to respond!
