View Full Version : why doesn't Curry's 5 straight Finals in West get praised like Lebron's 8 in East

and Curry actually winning 3 of the 5 Finals isn't praised as much as Lebron's 3 in 9 Finals
aka double standard, bias, LeFraud
ultimately, we know that 1-star teams routinely won the East and so Lebron had an unfair advantage with a "big 3", while Curry's big 3's were facing other big 3's or big 2's in the tougher West

That’s two more than MJ could manage
except the warriors were and are praised for making 5 straight finals...
I caught the finals last year I think I'd actually remember...

Because it’s the only manufactured criteria that could be used to prop up a career loser like LeBron.

curry should get the same or more praise than lebron for giving teams a higher ceiling (better Finals record)..
being good at winning the conference finals is inferior to being good at winning Finals

Because Durant was the best player on them warriors
being the best player doesn't matter apparently - look at Lebron's ring this year, or Kobe's first 2 rings, or Shaq's 3rd and 4th, or virtually everyone except the goat (who was the best player in 6/6 championship runs)..
only the goat was the best player in every Finals - Curry can't be measured by that standard because no one else is (lebron isn't being knocked for getting out-produced by AD)

Well this is awkward...
OP didn't know Curry teamed up with the former MVP for 2 of those runs and top 3 player in the league at the time.
And...5 is less than 8. The modern record is 8
LBJ = 8
Curry = 5
Shaq = 3
MJ = 3
Got it?

Lebron joined with a previous Finals MVP and #2 PER in the league then lost with a fully healthy squad and got outscored by Jason Terry in the NBA Finals.

curry and others should get more praise than lebron for giving teams a higher ceiling (better Finals record), aka better teams... higher ceiling = higher long run championship expectation = better player
lebron does a great job of dribbling his way to a certain caliber of team - but his ball-dominance prevents the best brand of ball, thereby limiting team ceiling and long run championship expectation (struggles to win on championship level, aka 18-31, worst of modern era)... indeed - being good at winning the conference finals is inferior to being good at winning Finals (the best team ceiling)
got it?

when did lebron hit the big shot in the Finals?
Fact: 17 years and 10 Finals but no big shots in the Finals
Conclusion: lebron isn't good enough to hit big shots or "takeover" in the clutch on the championship level

lebron is 0-8 on game-winners or game-tyers in the Finals (0%)
no big shots and 0%.. aka jittery in clutch
otoh
MJ was 4-8... aka 50%... aka same as regular season.. aka ice water in veins during clutch

^^ regular shots down the stretch don't count
lebron is 0-8 on game-winners or game-tyers in the Finals.. kyrie has more in 1/5 the Finals appearances.. mj was 4-8 in 6 Finals, so imagine if he colluded his way to 10 (teamed up with AD, er Duncan in 99')

otherwise, guys like JR Smith and Boobie Gibson have plenty of shots like the one you posted

I guess when you are a LeBron stan, hitting a couple of routine midrange jumpers vs an ancient spurs team is something to be highly praised for.
Those lowered expectations.

Whoops
^^^ That required a lot more games and on the last possession (last 24 seconds), MJ is the most lethal/likely to win the game:
https://i.makeagif.com/media/5-08-2019/eY2j3S.gif
And for the Finals only, Lebron is 0-8 (0% to win the game in the championship) while MJ is 4-8 (50% to win the game, so no drop-off under pressure)
And MJ was far more clutch in the last 5 minutes of tight games:
Playoff shots in last 5 minutes, within 5 points, since 2001
134-323 for Lebron.. 41.4%
108 games.. 3.0 attempts per game
Jordan 1997 Playoffs (https://stats.nba.com/players/clutch-traditional/?sort=PTS&dir=-1&Season=1996-97&SeasonType=Playoffs&PerMode=Totals).. 20-39.. 51.3% (11 games)
Jordan 1998 Playoffs (https://stats.nba.com/players/clutch-traditional/?sort=PTS&dir=-1&Season=1997-98&SeasonType=Playoffs&PerMode=Totals).. 22-50.. 44.0% (14 games)
42-89 for MJ.. 47.2%
25 games.. 3.6 attempts per game
Old MJ had much higher clutch efficiency and attempts than Lebron - the goat in tight games

3ball not watching basketball anymore since the last decade makes me doubt his credibility as a worthy poster
except I provide video evidence, aka body cams of my analysis.
The rules say that Iggy and Kawhi can't "affect a player's movement" in any way by hand-checking - so lebron has plenty of room, aka hands-off defense:
https://media.giphy.com/media/Nk5px4380siVa/giphy.gif
https://i.gifer.com/CI0O.gif
Otoh, Jordan's movement is significantly impeded by legal hand-checking - hard game:
http://cdn.makeagif.com/media/10-01-2015/V2-pAN.gif
Also, Lebron enjoys a wide open paint on every possession due to 3-point shooting teammates and defensive 3 seconds:
https://media.giphy.com/media/SBoU7XAFaW4nK/giphy.gif
Otoh, Jordan faced a packed paint because he didn't have 3-point shooting teammates and paint-camping was legal:
http://i.makeagif.com/media/8-30-2015/B_wITa.gif
It couldn't be clearer - Jordan played in a tougher environment - today's game looks like child's play with the wide open spacing and hands-off defense.. It's a joke..
That's why most pundits, coaches and also current or former players say Jordan would average 40 in today's game.

stephen curry doesn't have one memorable playoff moment in 5 combined Finals runs. 20 different series, not one sequence anyone can point to and say wow, remember when stephen curry had the shot, block, steal, buzzer beater, game saving defense or clutch rebound. this is what define legends
