parity = optimal competitive environment, aka many teams are Finals-caliber (because only 1 or 2 stars needed)..
Otoh, a top heavy league only has a couple Finals-caliber teams - so it's much easier for those teams... for example - from 11-17', the Heat/Spurs and Cavs/Warriors were the only teams with 3 perennial all-stars, so they made all the Finals during that time.. that's an easier "path" then navigating many Finals-caliber teams (many teams with comparable talent, aka parity because a team only needs 1-2 stars to be Finals-caliber)
