A lot of people don’t have the balls(or the green light) to make a number of spectacular plays a guy like magic got away with even when some were turnovers. Court vision is obviously a real thing but some of it is just deciding to go for it.

And it has to be ingrained to the extent of being an instinctive reaction because you have fractions of a second before the passing window closes on great passes. So it doesn't happen overnight.
