View Full Version : This is an ASTERISK season

If you disagree, you are fooling yourself. What shaped up to be one of the most exciting and open races to the NBA finals has completely been hijacked.

Even if the NBA somehow manages to have the playoffs this year, it is so obviously asterisked. Teams just aren't going to play for 2-3 months post all-star break and then hop right into the playoffs essentially? Total crap. Will there even be fans at stadiums at this point? Highly doubt it.

Regardless of what happens, this year is an asterisk. It's a shame.

asterisk cause of corona, yea

asterisk as in the title means less? obviously not, since everyone is dealing with the same and nothing got easier

It's not an asterisk if all teams and players are under the same circumstances.

What was the point of this thread, OP? Why would you want to discredit all players efforts to win?

What about the teams who had no players infected with the coronavirus as opposed to the ones who did?

As long as you consider it diminished even if your team/player wins...ok. But that’s never how it is. Long as you don’t praise or hate on anyone who wins or loses....you at least have some credibility. It matters or it doesn’t. It can’t depend on the outcome.

Lmao this season doesn't have an asterisk. This year does though.

The way the virus is trending in the US I doubt the NBA resumes play anytime soon. This season is probably done for, sucks for the Bucks because they were the favorites though other teams like the Lakers and Clippers had a great shot too.

Only losers troll. Troll and loser are the same thing. So it wasn't "name calling", it was me pointing out the FACT that warriorfan often displays troll (loser) behavior.

Asterisk just like 2012 Your argument is that LeBron´s ring in 2012 was an asterisk. Ok.

66 games is questionable. It deserves valid criticism. In the Playoffs though, thats different.

The Miami Heat had to go through the first round with the NYK. The NYK had a Det Rtg of 5th in NBA (101) and had a Off Reg of 17th (104.4). The NYK stole one game. They had a SRS of 2.39 (11th in league)

Next round, Miami Heat had to contend with the Pacers. They had Det Rtg (103.1) 9th and Off Reg (7th). Chris Bosh went down in Game 1 with an abdominal strain that caused to miss the rest of the series. At one point, the Pacers were up 2-1 in the series but LeBron & Wade amazing performance helped propel the Miami Heat past them and eventually close out the series.

The ECF was Heat vs Celtics. Bosh was out for 2 games into the series then came back for Game 3. Celtics held the #1 Det Rtg of 98.2. They had Off Reg of 101 (27th). They also had a SRS of 2.26(12th).

Then the Finals. The Miami Heat were facing a supremely talented young team consisting of KD, Westbrook, James Harden, and Serge Ibaka. They held 2nd for Off Rtg and 11th for Det Rtg. They had a SRS of 6.44(3rd).

Then they won the Finals.

Your argument is flawed. It lacks stats and context to go along it.

Poster like you do not contribute to anything and rarely posts evidence to support their claims.

I'd say a team like the Clippers has a slightly unfair advantage because now they don't have to worry about playing 4 (7 tbh) games @ the Lakers or in Milwaukee in a potential finals matchup.
