Tickets are so expensive

I don't understand how anyone can willingly pay so much money for great seats

People do it for one of two reasons. They don't care and manage their money well, or money is not an object to them.

The price difference is insane depending on what stadium and who the opponent is etc. The closest I've gotten is about 6 rows from the front, mid court.

Good luck with that in LA or NY though, always extortion prices for any seat in the lowest tier

In 1991 my mom won courtside tickets at her job so my
brother and I went.

Face value of the tickets ..... 165.00

Yes, although I was like 2 rows back. I got the tickets from my boss (they were corporate tickets). Honestly, I had a better time in mid level seats. Most of the people that I saw at courtside were players wives/girlfriends and corporate douchebags in suits... Probably never hit a jump shot in their life.

The atmosphere mid level is way better, your among real fans, people cheer, scream, boo, get into it. You don't get that with posers.

I sat right behind the Pacers bench at a Wednesday night Wizards game in 2012(?) for $8. Got the tickets online an hour before tipoff. It was two tickets, so I took a buddy. It would have been the first row for a hockey game, so I was as close as you can get without being on the floor. I dapped up Roy Hibbert, and I was on TV half the game.

Closest I sat was 11 rows from the court, last year in Orlando vs the Lakers. Was awesome, you could hear the players talking.

Sick view though being that close.

Working class people would be dumb to drop $1000 on courtside seats. Sometimes the boss of a company will give an employee seats I've seen things like that on Facebook.

$1000 for courtside seats? Not for the Lakers. Try far north of that.

Nah, I've been in the lower deck at times but from corner position so not a great view, I was on the half court line of the 2nd deck once - right on the edge - and that was by far the best "view" I've had and short of sitting court side I bet it's the best view you can get because you're slightly elevated and can see literally everything. I've also been in Cleveland's box seats, those were cool hospitality wise but not necessarily a great view.

Best game situation I ever was in the building for was the Finals. I bought tickets and they were not cheap and were nosebleeds, but the energy was bar none. It was the first ever home Finals game that the Cavs won.

I don't go to games much, the gimmicks and circus performances that they force between plays make them feel corny and like I'm surrounded by non-basketball fans that just like shiny things and loud noises. But if an opportunity arrises like cheap or free tickets, or just "nothing to do" (rare) I'll go. The Finals isn't likely to happen again soon, and not sure if I'd ever spend that much on a ticket again anyways :lol

I sat right behind Mike & Tommy at a Celtics game back in 2016. Watched the Celtics crush the Blazers. Copped the tickets for $350 a piece. It's pretty legit. I'd love to get courtside seats one day.

How close/far from them were you? $350 each?? For your location if you were closer to them that is cheap af

nah those tickets are way too expensive. paying anything over $500 is a massive stretch let alone paying 1k or a few k just to watch men sweating up and down a court.

Lmao...if it were $1k, I'd do it once a year when the Lakers come to Orlando.

Try $3-5k per seat. Minimum.

2nd row under the basket. You realize how extremely large everyone in the NBA are. I'm 6'1" and the guys my height look like midgets on TV.

Yep! Sat courtside for a Warriors-Mavs game. I was on the floor, second row.

Game was played on Feb 6, 1985. My ticket cost $25.

I bought my ticket at Sears a week before the game, because some season ticket holder didn't claim theirs and I was there right when they opened a week before the game. There was a courtside ticket available, I grabbed it.

Memories from the game:

Usher not quite sure that my ticket stub allowed me entrance to the lower bowl. He checked with an older guy who said "Yeah, it's okay."

Two SMU frat boys in the first row trying to get some ridiculous portable black and white TV set to work so that they could watch the SMU game. Thing must have cost several hundred dollars back in the day. They were fiddling with the antenna, trying to get good reception. SMU was pretty good that year, so they were double-dipping.

Other than that... yeah, closer to the action. I didn't realize how physical the NBA was until I watched those guys pushing and shoving and elbowing. And you hear them grunting and cursing.

Yes. But back then watching from home meant a small CRT TV with shitty antenna reception.

Absolutely! That's a big part of the reason I fell in love with the game and I find lacking in today's NBA; the homoeroticism.

Saw the Kings play the Mavs in Dallas and sat on the court. The camera guy was almost between my legs..I was a magic fan but my buddy was a kings fan and wore his chris webber jersey. We were friends with the owner at that time (don carter) so it didn't cost anything.

It makes you think the court is too small for these huge athletes.

Correct. My friend's dad would sometimes get courtside tix from his boss. I was invited to go with them once. Granted this was the terrible lottery Nets when they still in NJ but it was still cool as hell.

Got 2 court side tickets from my brother's friend (season ticket holder). Pat Riley was sitting slightly behind and to the right of us - so I got a pic of my son with Riley in the background. My son was so thrilled - he said, "I feel so PRIVILEGED, Mom!" Alonzo Mourning also sat it that area with Riley.

The game seemed unbelievably faster than viewing from higher up in the stands which was also much more so than on TV.

My brother got some to a 2009 Blazer vs Bulls game. I was at work so I couldn't go. $900 a seat. He says he remembers drunk dudes talking shit to Noah. Constantly roasting him for having a ponytail.

In 2016 I was like 3 rows from the floor at a Nuggets preseason game. Girl from Nike got tickets. This was when I first noticed Nurkic and Jokic.
