Basically you have to post porn or gore for mods to have a guaranteed get off their ass moment.

And truthfully I'm almost positive it's not even their fault. It's Jeff's fault. It's beyond likely that he's instructed them to remain mostly hands off.

All he wants is to hit his sweet spot of keeping expenses minimal (by not having too many new forum members eating up bandwidth) while exerting the minimal amount of effort to make some money. If you ban people for saying stupid shit, you have to open registration back up... this increases effort and decreases revenue and Jeff doesn't want that.

But the problem with doing that is... the quality of the board will never be high. And he doesn't care, because the quality of his product is irrelevant in his eyes. Just have to hit that sweet spot.

It's about meeting that minimal effort / correct amount of revenue sweet spot. That's why ISH is the way it is today and why it's always been the way it has been.

But he's too stupid to see that if he opened registration and improved the quality of his site with better moderation that his overall revenue and profitability would improve despite expenses rising.
