View Full Version : Ok. So there's no debate that this Warrior team is the best homegrown team in history

Right?

And not one top 5 pick

Can there be any argument that this is the greatest homegrown core in the history of the NBA in terms of longevity and success? Maybe in all of sports? Better than the Aikman, Irvin. Smith Cowboys?

All 3 FMVP have been won by guys who were acquired by free agency.

This, it's definitely a debate. When you draft the greatest player of all time, pretty much drafted the greatest 2 way player of all time and create a dynasty that could have well gone to 7 straight finals, it's a debate.

They didn't draft Pippen.

Don't be ridiculous. It was a draft day trade.

They traded for the pick that they used on Pippen, giving up Polynice and whatever.

The idea of homegrown in basketball doesn't really apply imo but they did mold Draymond. Everyone else pretty much naturally developed to what they became. Though the biggest credit to management is for shipping out Ellis to allow Curry's role to expand. I wouldn't call it homegrown but more than any other team I can think of atm.

Bulls drafted Jordan, Pippen and Grant.
Pippen's the only guy they really molded from a raw talent question mark into greatness and they didn't even draft him. Everyone else was as advertised.

Grant left after first 3 finals though. That's why I added "longevity". He was only there for half their storied run

They also didn't have a KD level player join them. Jordan and Pippen were the two best players for all 6 titles.

The 89' bulls won 47 games and would've missed the 45-win playoff cut without jordan's 33/8/8 (lottery team without jordan)

That exact same lottery cast from 1989 began a 3-peat in 1991 - so the team wasn't based on talent - it was a lottery cast that developed the teamwork, know-how, and goat brand of ball required of all dynasties

It's the most organic dynasty of all time that beat the lakers/celtic killers to become the king

Who did the Warriors topple? They faced the worst Finals comp of any dynasty, and it's not remotely close.. it's obviously a treat to face Mr. 3/9 and his 3/9 brand in the Finals

Warriors are the GOAT team because they beat LeGod.
LeDong is the GOAT because he beat the Warriors.
