Stats don't show who made the plays and had the moments that changed the series. You look back on that series and Kyrie was the one that sparked the Cavs and made the biggest plays. Shaun Livingston called Kyrie the catalyst on those Cavs teams. LeBron wins the box score stats for airheads. People that can actually decipher and analyze information can look deeper than that. Kyries ability to match and challenge Curry from the point guard position is what won that series for the Cavs. It wasn't until the warriors got a guy in KD that could match lbj thar they could beat the Cavs in a series.

I'll give you three games, where Irving was better than James

Game 3

James 32 pts 6 ast 5 TO 56.7%TS, 115 ORTG, +24
Irving 30 pts 8 ast 3 TO 57%TS, 135 ORTG, +24

Game 5

James 41 pts 7 ast 2 TO 61.2%TS, 132 ORTG, +13
Irving 41 pts 6 ast 4 TO 82.4%TS, 146 ORTG, +20

Game 7

James 27 pts 11 ast 5 TO 47.5%TS, 98 ORTG +4
Irving 26 pts 1 ast 2 TO 52.5%TS, 106 ORTG +10

Irving also came through in the clutch with like 10 straight points to put away Game 5 and the game-winner in Curry's face in Game 7.

It's clear as day to me that Kyrie was at the very least 1b in this series when you look at the fact that he was arguably the best player in 3 out of 4 wins and that he hit the biggest shot of the series to clinch the championship.

Irving's overall net rating is higher than Lebron's in the 3 games I posted. His clutchness and more efficient scoring makes up for Lebron's rebounding. It's also worth noting that Irving played considerably less minutes, yet put up better/comparable numbers on the offensive side while at much higher scoring efficiency. Irving was also good defensively in this series, averaging over 2 steals a game and being 3rd in blocks.

You can't honestly tell me that Kyrie wasn't better in Game 3 or 5. when looking at the numbers and the timing of when he scored in these games. Game 3 he matched the Warriors' scoring total in the 1st quarter to go up big early and they never let up, Game 5 he scored 10 straight when the game was still within reach while Klay was going off, Game 7 he hits the game-winner when neither team could buy a bucket.

He most definitely carried James in big moments, Game 6 is the only one you can definitely say that James played better, all other 3 wins you have great arguments for Irving.

Irving scored 5 points in the 4th, while James had 11 + the block that set up that shot.

The most crucial point of the game was probably when they exploited Ezeli for six quick points.

5:24.0 Shooting foul by F. Ezeli (drawn by L. James) 83-87
5:24.0 L. James makes free throw 1 of 3 +1 84-87

5:24.0 L. James makes free throw 3 of 3 +1 86-87
5:16.0 86-87 Turnover by S. Curry (bad pass)

Who cares, my point is that Irving played a huge factor in these wins, he was a damn superstar and outperformed the MVP in this series.

You can't tell me that Irving was a robin when he averaged 30.0 PPG 1.7 stl 1.3 blk on 52/53/100 splits in 3 straight wins. Lebron only averaged slightly more points due to playing a few more minutes per game and scoring some buckets in garbage time of Game 6. James played 19 more minutes to score 18 more points than Irving for the series. Their Usage Rating was also damn near the same.

Ok, so Lebron only scored more points than Irving in Game 7 because he exploited a terrible substitution in Ezeli, who hasn't played a single NBA minute since that game, like Irving wouldn't have done the same if Ezeli was switched onto him :lol .

Whether you like it or not, Irving's shot was most definitely the biggest of the series. And he did score 10 straight points mid-way of the 3rd quarter if you want to compare scoring stretches and was guarding Curry on that turnover in your play-by-play.

Curry did about as good of a job on that shot as any defender would have :confusedshrug: . It's not like Irving crossed him over and hit a wide open shot, that was a contested 3-pointer.

This is what I feel as well. Game 3 changed the complexion of the series. Kyrie went off the first quarter and half, crossing Curry up and asserting himself and the team into the series. He gave LeBron and the rest of his teammates hope. This is the hero that dropped 57 on the defending champion spurs and had the Superman like 55 point effort against Lillard, Aldridge and the blazers. He was the catalyst. Warriors knew it. The Cavs never looked like they did the first 2 games of the series after that quarter.

Edit:. Good point about game 5. He had a ton of baskets down the stretch of that game when the warriors were threatening a comeback. Key, moments that changed the series Kyrie came up biggest. LeBron has the stats but Kyrie was more of a game changer to me. I can see either argument. I just can't believe he didn't get a single final mvps vote. Shows you how superficial society is.

Hey Yo

I gave you three wins where you could say that he outperformed Lebron. I said that Game 3 and Game 5 are very strongly in his favor while Game 7 is debatable, I said you could argue that he was the best player in 3 out of 4 wins in that series.

I gave you the offensive stats and the +/-. Irving was clearly a more efficient scorer/offensive player in these games.

Either make an argument against Irving or jump off my dick, thanks.

And this isn't even considering all the times Kyrie stopped the bleeding.

Bran poured it on AFTER Kyrie hit the clutch shots.

Really nice to see who the adults in this forum are. No shame in realizing the truth.

As for Bran... the only thing he did was take Draymond Green out, and being the babied face of the league for which favors had to be made... as Silver did. In that sense he did help.

I feel that I have grown as a person as well. Looking back I

Really confused by what the argument for Kyrie is here. It's certainly not statistical. LeBron's Game Score for the series is 26.5 to Kyrie's 19.1. He had the better Game Score in 6 of the 7 games of the series. The better Game Score in all 4 of Cleveland's victories too.

If we are measuring impact, than LeBron was a net +13 for the series' to Kyrie's +7 (Cleveland was a net-negative defensively for the series with Kyrie on the floor).

If it's the intangible, then really the only game you can argue for Kyrie being better is Game 3, when he got Cleveland off to that great start while LeBron didn't truly get going until the 2nd half. The rest of the games, LeBron's 2-way impact easily dwarfs Kyrie's. He also severely outperformed Kyrie in the clutch in the series' only 2 competitive games (Game 6 & 7).

Also, don't downplay LBJ's Game 6 of the 2016 NBA Finals, it was literally the highest game score for a Finals game in NBA history.
