Why is the Eastern Conference finally open after 8 years?

Ever since around I'd say 2011 or so the Eastern Conference has been on maximum security prison lock down. But for some reason this year the Eastern Conference finally feels open. I finally feel like for once I don't know who is coming out of the East but for around 8 consecutive years (not 3, like others we know) we all knew who was coming out of the East.

Bucks didn't have Bud and Giannis wasn't as good yet, maybe also has something to do with Kawhi + Siakam's development in Toronto.. Philly didn't have the same team, Irving and Hayward were injured..

Do you think last year's Cavs have any chance in the current EC? Of course not. They went 7 games in the 1st round against an average Pacers squad and they went 7 games with an injured Celtics squad led by Tatum, who might be worse than Ingram :kobe:

It's funny because the East was frozen and unchanged trash for a decade or more

It's almost like the NBA made the East trash on purpose so he could make Finals runs (after failing in 09/10 with 60-win 1 seeds)

And now the moment he's gone, the East is a real conference again with SICK parity (hardest environment to win a ring - everyone is a big fish, not just 1 team)

The East was relatively easy for the Celtics. Only lost two games in the way to the conference championship and the conference finals were swept. Not that the Finals were any tougher, lost game 4 but otherwise beat the Mavericks decisively. So the biggest difference between the East of today, where the East has the NBA champion, and 2018 when someone would win the East and then was almost guaranteed to lose its clearly the maturation of Tatum and Brown, along with a better supporting cast around them. An improvement that has spurred the Knicks and Sixers to make major moves hoping to challenge the Celtic dominance.
