#23 in rpg
#16 in double-doubles
#11 VORP
#5 Box Plus/Minus

Those are the emptiest stats of any 16th year player that's for sure

And a bunch of guys were better for years 1-15

So not sure the point of the thread

Thank you for this new thread. It is actually quite refreshing in a way.

I'd have to say the problem is that the stats are rather lacking context.

Did he play better than MJ year 16? Can you post his stats please? I'm assuming he was durable enough to make it that far?

At age 35 MJ won league, finals, allstar mvp and scoring title and made all nba 1st team and all nba defensive 1st team and the only allstar on the squad.

it looks like Tim Duncan did in 2012-13

#6 in PER
#20 ppg
#7 in FG% (among the top 20 scorers)
#9 in rpg
#11 in double-doubles
app. #20 VORP (3.2)
#15 Box Plus/Minus (4.1)
app. #20 Win shares (8.3)

18/10/3 on 50% with 82% from the free throw line, yes that's right, 82%, and 3 blocked shots

and this is with Duncan's totals for things like VORP and Win Shares taking a huge hit due to missing 13 games on the season.

16th season Kobe, Karl, Duncan, KG, Dirk and Kareem were all better players and Kareem and Karl were 37yo too

Dirk played 80 games and led a top 3 offense and 49 wins in a brutal conference where 48 win Suns didnt make it. He took the champion Spurs to 7 games as huge underdogs without HCA giving them their hardest series by far and nearly won

KG in year 16 played 71 games and anchored the #2 defense as the Celtics won 56 and were the 3rd best team in a strong East. Robbed of DPOY

Duncan in year 16 put up 18/10/3/3 and arguably shouldve won DPOY. Anchored a top 3 defense. Arguably the best player on a 58 win finals team and 7th in MVP voting

Karl played 81 games on a 53 win team that was a top 3 offense and 7th in MVP voting

Kobe put up 28/5/5 on a 41 team in a lockout season (50 win pace) that made the semis and a top 10 offense and top 5 in MVP voting

Kareem put up 22/8/3/2 on 60% in 79 games as a 37yo. 2nd best player on a championship 60 win team. Led his team in points and rebounds in the playoffs and still played great D. Averaged 27/8/5/2/1 in the finals on 60% and won FMVP

nothing Brans doing this season is exceptional unless ur purely boxscore watching which i guess most of his praise is from anyways

Bran is barely a top 20 player in his 16th season and his team has a losing record in the games hes played. Their # of wins, offensive and defensive rating are about to be the same or worse than last year despite the same core......

Poor Simon tries every day to cope with the fact that he never saw MJ play by retyping the same shit about a how a 6 time finals loser couldn't hold MJ's jockstrap.

didn't read through this thread but didn't a 38 year old kareem win fmvp in his 16th year for the lakers.

maybe not as impressive as leading the lakers, at age 34, to the 11th seed.

but still... not bad.

Empty stats

Missed playoffs

Held team mates back

Stunted young players growth

Single handedly lost at least 5 games with anti- clutch gene

Ruined locker room

His prime last 17-18 seasons, has 6 rings, 6 mvp, 15 all team and 11 all defensive team but you guys call him overrated because of missing playoff 2 times in 20 years (or 2 timeas in 17-18 prime seasons)... :facepalm

Also calling weakest era?

Do you also beleive your era is best?

You are chosen ones and gonna be rockstars?

Maybe care media less?

Nba is a well commercialized product in USA. People should always believe they are watching strongest era and goat players.

Carmello Anthony made the WCF

Kobe's rivals were Steve Nash and Carmello Anthony
LBJ's rivals were Boston big 3 and Detroit BEAT KOBE'S ASS Pistons

Make more sense, now?

Also, that is my GOAT list. Do you see where are both Kobe and Lebron?

1 - M. Jordan
2 - Kareem

5 - Hakeem
6 - Duncan
7 - Bill Russell
8 - Shaq
9 - Wilt Chamberlain
10 - Isiah Thomas
11 - Kobe
12 - Durant
13 - Lebron
14 - Moses Malone
15 - Havlicek
16 - Dirk
17- Curry
18 - Erving
19 - Wade
20 - K. Malone

In addition, I dont like to list players in order. It is much better to categorise them.

Yeah, cause you saw Malone and Kareem play every game their 16th season and didn't even need to look their numbers up. You knew them off the top of your head.

Looks at said players stats, then proclaims how great those players played. Then calls others boxscore watchers.
