No, I wish him the best but at this stage he is just a fat negro college athlete. I don't think his game will translate to the NBA at all, as 3/4 tweeners are the most worthless players in the league.

Like LeBron James and Kevin Durant?

They aren't tweeners. lebron has no post game. I could see the argument for durant though but he's far too weak to play traditional power forward.

I wonder how many players can dunk from the FT line. Zion's dunk looks similar to Pippen's.

Am I the only one who doesn't give a shit about dunking in basketball? A reverse layup or a contested fadeaway midranger is much more exciting than a dunk to me.

Bulls during 90s had 3 players capable of dunking from the FT line - MJ, Pippen and ... Tony Kukoc, who dunked from the FT line at former Yugo All-Star game dunk contest (check the video):

Dunks used to matter, cause the paint was congested. No one cares about dunks anymore, least of all the players.

The players do care about it, jumping around like monkeys whenever someone dunks it hard. Newsflash, dunking involves no skill. Its just being able to jump high. Nothing to do basketball ability, might as well do athletics or volleyball.

Dunking is demoralizing to defenses and delivers momentum. It also silences the crown and opposing teams momentum.

It's a psychological part of the game and opens up shots outside

Yeah dunks are great, brings home crowd to roars

Love em

You wouldn’t understand unless you dunked on someone’s head in real life. Nothing like emasculating another and getting the better of them. The feeling can’t be described with words.

They're trying too hard.

Players today largely do a polite corteous dunk, cause there's no one there to defend.

Everyone can get a dunk or layup these days.

How often to do you see dunks like this:

Players were much better dunkers then. They had to be. Being able to explode of two feet was a legit skill in a time of packed paints.

Youngins have no idea of all the great dunkers, that no one remembers any more.

Some of Kyrie Iriving's layups are so elite I would take them over any dunk.

Bullshit.

Its demoralizing to idiots. A dunk is worth 2 points, nothing else. If I dunk on someone I didn't do much apart from simply being taller or jumping higher than him.

Now if I did what Trae Young did to his man the other day when he sent him to buy him some cigarettes with a between the legs move, that is something worth being proud of and can be considered being simply better at the game of basketball.

why do coaches always call timeouts after dunks and big shots?

it's not rocket science

Dunks doesn't have that effect on people anymore. No one cares about one of hundreds of Giannis or Lebrons dunk, as no one really try to contest them anymore

A 28 ft Curry contested 3 killing a 22 sec sequence of perfect defense is far much more impactful than whoever dunking in an empty paint

I don't know if I'd say with ease. But it was impressive, especially if you look at where he took off from.

midrange effectiveness has been negated as has post ups. It is what it is. It's all about spacing and speed. The game has changed. if you hit threes you will be efficient.

Yes, it's horribly depressing. But you're right, if this guy can dunk and hit pull up 3s, he's already elite in today's game.

it's depressing if you want it to be. There have been some classics this year. Did you see that Jazz/Thunder game? How about Kings vs Jazz from earlier this year?

Aside from the corporate superstar politics, there has been good ball played.

Yes Jazz/Thunder is a legitimate rivalry with a true elite player in Paul George. But I need to see some post play from the big men, post moves, and mid range game dsiplayed by the greats of past.

Lots of these games are aesthetic and pleasing but I like tactic as well.
