View Full Version : Paul George is a top 5 player this year

Amazing comeback he has had. Only Lebron, KD, Curry, and Harden have been better.

PG actually is peaking this year and ironically enough, has had OKC Durant level production along with even better defense.

Giannis?

And are we talking pre or post LeGroin?

His game is too smooth to even waste time to hate lol and he's a deadly defender when he wants to.

We waiting for playoff p :confusedshrug:

He stayed because he had unfinished business. MVP coming? I doubt he gets it but he's a top 2-3 candidate. His defense is special, and now that everyone has bought in on that end this year (ahem Russ), OKC defense could be a nightmare. Hope they get to play the Warriors in the playoffs.

Looks like OP massively triggered a bunch of Brick homos.

PG has been amazing this season. Usually he starts extremely hot and starts dropping off from Jan, but he's sustaining it this season. He's the MVP for now.

He's always had this in him. It took him awhile to overcome the psychological barrier after breaking his leg. Being around Westbrook has made him mentally stronger and thus able to harness the untapped potential due to his previously weak mind. There's a lot of guys like that, who never reach anywhere close to their full potential.

Derek Rose could've been one of the best PG's of all time had it not been for his mind being broken due to injuries. Not his body being broken. His mind. It took him several years just to get to the point where he isn't totally enslaved by his weak mind, but it's far too late in the game

Paul George today - 37/4/4 with only 2 turnovers. Simply incredible.

Never thought I'd see it but he's basically replaced Durant's impact this year on OKC.

Paul George 28/8/4 59%TS with elite defense 24.7 PER 7.54 RPM

KD 27/7/6 62%TS with below average defense 24.7 PER 5.30 RPM

Kawhit 27/8/3 61%TS with slightly above average defense 26.9 PER 3.05 RPM

Its pretty clear to me that PG is the best of the 3 right now numbers and eye test speak for itself :applause:

It's looking like PG is firmly establishing himself as a top 10 player in the world. In the past, that couldn't really be said:

Bron
KD
Giannis
AD
Embid
Kawhi
Russ
Harden
Steph
PG

There are my top 10 players in no particular order. Two way wise on the perimeter, he has a case as the best in the world. Before the season started, many thought Kawhi was the sure answer. But with PG stepping it up scoring, PG is right there. Hell if this is the PG we will see going forward, I would take him over Kawhi to be honest. PG is looking like the closest thing to a combo of T Mac (scoring skillset wise) and Pippen (defensive ability wise)

Weak comparison. PG broke his leg which is a freak injury. Rose is injury prone to the point of being Mr. Glass. He has had multiple injuries of knees and ankles. Of course he will not go as hard as he used to anymore. Its not broken mind, its simply rational choice. Not to mention those injuries have taken away his insane hangtime.

Anyway PG should be MVP imo. Hes been incredible this season.

PG always does this shit at the beginning of the season. He hasn't faded as much as he usually has by February, but I'm sure "Playoff P" will be back in full force come April.

OKC's 9 - 1 in their last 10 with him averaging 35/8/4 on 49/48/84 shooting, that's over 48% from 3 with almost 12 attempts a game while also playing elite defense. Basically James Harden numbers without the shameless chucking.

It's hard to say top 5 given the quality of the top 5 (and 10), but I do have him at #10.

Amazing year for him. Leapfrogged.

How about we accept he has become a better player? The man is doing 28 a game, carrying OKC most nights.

Because he was dreadful last year in the playoffs against an inferior team? Yeah, he's played great so far in the regular season. Awesome.

Does that matter if he goes 2-16 in an elimination game again?

dude usually plays well in the playoffs however, last year wasnt the norm. He starts hot and ends hot but has a cold stretch during the RS but he seems to have turned a corner this year.

He's not top 5 but I definitely would have him top 10. I used to be in the Butler>george crowd but that's just not the case this year

Keep in mind that you started this thread on Feb 2. During this month PG is averaging 39/8/5 with a TS of 66%, probably the best run of his career.

People who might have disagreed at first might have changed their minds given how PG has been playing this month. At this point he seems to be on most people's short list for MVP.

Just because someone disagreed with you doesn't make them a hater. I don't think he is popular enough to really have haters.

2nd in MVP/DPOY, and I'm a big Giannis stan so I'm biased towards him but PG has an argument for both as well

It's been a 2 man race for awhile now. Both deserve it
