Qs Quote:
"The Lakers high octane offense was just better than the Rockets high octane offense. This game, however, will involve defense as Utah actually plays both sides of the ball. Interested to see if Luke Walton can keep the Lakers rolling during their first road trip, in a tough environment. On the flip side, Utah may get Favors back and that is a huge addition for a team with aspirations of sneaking into the Top 4. Quin Snyder made some questionable substitutions during Utah's debut game, and it'll be interesting to see if that continues."

Q's Prediction:
Lakers Win 103-98
Prediction Record (Clipper Record): 2-0 (1-0)

...But the Clippers aren't even apart of this game, what's the point of mentioning them? They our rivals, that's silly.

Keep this up, you'll be black balled from making Lakers gt's. Having said that, I really like the layout you make for gt's doe, nice and clean.

Good thread. The layout is dope. Can't wait to see Randle go up against Favors. Let's see Nick young play some defense....

Top 4 really? for a coach who hasn't proven that he can really establish the best system for this team, esp with players who haven't proven to be consistently reliable. I see them struggling actually to be the 8th seed.

Hard to imagine them struggling for the 8th spot but you are right they all have a lot to prove. Snyder did make some questionable decisions last game as he did last year. But as long as Gobert is healthy they have proven they can compete with anyone every night.

Should be a blowout tonight. Unlike the Rockets the Jazz play both ends

When they got relatively healthy last year, they started playing real well, and went ahead this summer to further bolster their bench and acquired a point-guard, a major Achilles heel for them. The rest of the West, outside of the Top 3 is wide, wide open, and I like Utah more than OKC, Houston, Memphis, etc. to sneak into the fourth slot. Assuming they stay healthy.

Though I have liked what I've seen from Portland within the first two games.

Not sure if Utah finishes above the Blazers this season.

But Utah is running out of excuses. They have a solid squad and a mix of vets and youth.

Jazz home opener Tough game for the youngins

Randle needs to attack Boris Diaw from the get go and work on the boards cuz d'angelo and JC will have their hands full with Hill and Hayward.

Looking forward to Mozgov vs Gobert matchup

Xiao Yao You
10-28-2016, 06:56 PM
Hayward isn't playing. Favors is probably starting not Diaw

Quin Synder loves Diaw don't expect him to start Favors right away.

Bosnian Sajo

It'll definitely be a tough game, Utah is renowned for being great at home. Good defense, too...but how is their perimeter defense? If JC/Dlo/Swaggy/Bingram can get it going from downtown, that will be the key.

If we do win tonight, things are looking good. Hoping for at least competitive game.

you are right. Diaw played 32 minutes and sucked last game. I'd guess Favors will start though

The Jazz added Hill and Exum on the perimeter so they are looking good there defensively

Ah, shit; don't tell me that the injury bug is plaguing this team again with Ingram out of all players... I've had enough consternation about our young talent being put onto the backwaters due to injuries ever since Julius Randle's horrific season-opening injury 2 years ago.

That's the thing, it's Gobert. You can't box out a guy who's taller, longer, faster, and stronger than 99% of the centers in the league.

He's all about athleticism, freak of nature for his size. I'd kill to have him on the Lakers.

I would understand it if there was any challenge on his putbacks, but he's wide open on those. I disagree on him being one of the strongest centers though

I love what I'm seeing from the Lakers so far. They're a bit too indiscreet with the fouling and haven't been seizing as many loose balls as they should, but the initial defense is looking really good so far in addition to the ball movement on the other end.

I'm saying bro, they ****ing want it bad. Russ is so much improved from last season, it's night and day. We know he can get buckets, it's not his night when it comes to shooting, but he's been dishing it like a true point guard. Too many turnovers.

Naero
10-28-2016, 11:26 PM
Game is still well within striking distance, but we don't have any dependable closer at this time—one of the growing pains of a fledgling young team.

Win or lose, however, I'm satisfied with the effort tonight against a respectable Jazz team. We can at least take solace in knowing that we'll win situationally similar games once our young talent ripens and when we have a consistent offensive threat—something we couldn't say under Byron Scott and his nearly irredeemable defense, as well as all his old-school schemes that modern-NBA teams already know how to counter-strategize against.

Really wanted to see the Lakers clinch a 2-0 season-starting record for the first time since 2010, but I can contently take this loss.

We were a few possessions away from winning in one of the most raucous home crowds in the league against an easily playoffs-probable team. Offensive inconsistencies will take care of themselves with due course; I'm more concerned about scheming, which has promisingly improved from last year on both ends.

Yeah, but Hayward is injured so the the Jazz were playing without their lead scorer.
