Could you list the years outside of 07 in which you thought Dirk had the best supporting cast in the league around him?

The answer to the question of 1 ring is easy;

1. Dirk wasn't as good as the likes of Duncan and Shaq

2. Dirk rarely, if ever, had quality championship caliber players and coaches around him

Not really. It just means that even at his age as the best player on the team, he can still carry the franchise to the playoffs. And he will do it again this year. Even at 38/39. Something that guys like KG and Kobe couldn't do a that age or years in the league.....

(But I guess it would be better if Dirk let the Mavs not make the playoffs a la KG did in Minny or Kobe did in LA, even in their primes....)

Come on, you could argue Dallas only started contending in 2003. But they weren't elite till 2006. Oddly letting Nash go made them better. The team had alot of internal development that year. Josh Howard, Marquis Daniels and DeSagana Diop all improved greatly and at the same time, simular to Dramond, Klay & Harrison Barnes.

But there's no way in hell anyone considered Dallas a contender in 2000 or 2001.
