Pretty much clears who getting inducted into the HOF in a few years from now. Three guys that played their hearts out, and did so fearlessly.

21 years of basketball so far. Insane.

I wonder what the most seasons played is, ever? Kg should stay 1 more and make it 22.

To my knowledge, 21 is the most ever.

KG has played 21 seasons, which is a tied best with Parish, and some other Willis guy... Kevin Willis?

Not sure... if hed step one second on a court next year, he'd have the most ever.

couple more seasons to beat Kevin Willis, and about 2 more decades to beat Mutumbo

Article mentions this. KG is tied with Robert Parish and Kevin Willis for most NBA seasons all time. If he plays next season, he has the record to himself.

I agree! Kobe, Duncan, and KG getting inducted at the same time would be EPIC!! I could be wrong, but that might be the most prestigious group of NBA players to EVER enter at the same time. I know MJ's class was damn good too though.

I wonder if KG's versatility at 7'0 may have backfired on him in a sense. And not give him the longevity guys that Duncan and Kobe had being great players. KG did SO DAMN MUCH at his size that other 7'0 footers were never asked to do. He put 24 points, 13-14 rebounds, and 5-6 dimes a night in his peak years.

BUT from there he defended big swingmen, played a lot at SF early in his career, and played a ton in terms of being a point forward. There wasn't a PF like him before or after him in terms of his overall skillset at 7'0 tall. But I think his body eventually suffered the wear and tear of that epic versatility.

KG had very good longevity, he just had a huge and very noticeable drop off after leaving Boston. He was an all-star in his sophomore season, and a superstar for quite a while, including arguably being the best player in the league at certain points. IDK tho I didn't watch prime KG for real.

KG had very good longevity. BUT it wasn't on the level of guys like MJ, Kobe, Duncan, Kareem, Malone, etc. Those guys were still among the best in the world in their mid 30's. KG was DONE being among the best in the world at 32 or 33 years of age. He was still an All Star, but not on the level of Duncan and Dirk anymore.

That serious knee injury during his Boston days took away some elements in what made him unique among 7 footers. And that was his freakish athletic ability. And the ability to defend three or four different positions if he had to. He was NEVER a post anchor like Duncan.

I never saw a big man play with great intensity every possession for like 9 straight years. His intensity and passion was crazy with probably only Jordan in the same breath. Along with his great versatility he was a very smart player. Tall intense players are extremely rare in the NBA so I didn't expect longevity. Nor did he have coaches that preserved him or that provided a lot of structure, but he didn't really know how to tone it down anyway.

Kevin Willis was almost 45 years old when he played his last game. Mutombo was 25 when he started, had a lot less mileage is why he lasted so long. By the time Garnett was 25, he was in his 7th season.

Now, just realize he put up those numbers with GOAT level defense.

Garnett's 03-04 season has to be a top 5 GOAT season ever for a big man.

Well said! At KG's size, NO OTHER player in NBA history was asked to do as much at 7 ft tall. U could make a case that Bron and KG are the most versatile players in NBA history. I come to that conclusion because of their numbers, offensive versatility, and defensive versatility.

But the DIFFERENCE with KG was he was 7 foot. AND consistently leading the league in rebounds. He was asked to play BIG AND SMALL more than any big man in NBA history. It required a certain intensity and energy level to pull it off as long as KG had.

So it's UNDERSTANDABLE that KG became more of a pure big man in his later years. AS OPPOSED to being a versatile marvel who could do ANYTHING on a basketball court. And as u stated, he didn't have FILTER in terms of toning it down. Most of his time in Minny, he didn't have teams equipped to win rings. Googs and Starbury weren't there long enough. Later on, Cassell, Spree, and Wally weren't together with KG long enough.

He's already been effectively retired as far as impact for the last couple of years...so it's not really that big of deal...it is nice to see a player actually accept father time and not embarrass himself by shooting himself out of the league like some other legend did...

He should. If he wants to be a veteran presence for the wolves he should just be part of the coaching staff or something.

What an insecure b*tch you are.

But I laughed at your comment because it's obvious you are seething over losing your greatest franchise player and getting to see him retire in another jersey.

I don't recall Kevin Garnett ever being Heat or Sonics player, but okay...Or are you talking about Wade? Because if you are...I have no hard feelings about him leaving...he had to do what he had to do.

Garnett was mentoring last year taking KAT under his wings. He was thinking of doing the same with Thibes. Which is still good for the team because they have great defensive pieces.

It's weird to see some questioning Kg's longevity of all things in this thread. I see no reason why Kobe supposedly has better longevity.

KG had very good longevity no doubt. His longevity wasn't being questioned. BUT at the same time, KG was done being a great player in his early 30's. KG hasn't averaged double figures since 2013. Since his serious knee injury at 32 years of age in 2009, he only played in at least 70 games ONLY ONCE!! I was just wondering if KG's versatility may have played a role in his decline at 32 years of age.

After that injury, he was no longer superstar caliber and one of the top two PF's in the world. Duncan and Dirk were still All Star caliber players through their mid 30's and into their late 30's. And even in the case of Kobe, he didn't fall AS BAD as KG did. Kobe put up 27 points a night at 34 years of age.

It was his intensity Bizil. No modern day big man played both sides of the ball like that. YouTube KG and there are about 7 or 8 videos about his intensity. If you saw him live it was like seeing his passion come out in his sweat. He was blood, sweat and tears. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-506_9d14E I think people forgot about it because he played his last 5 years like a regular player. The only superstar that was also the enforcer on his team as well. Ironically, he also won best interview award a couple of times as well.

I agree! KG's intensity was EPIC!! His motor among 7 footers is unmatched in my opinion. Due to his motor and intensity, it makes total sense why he suffered that serious injury at 32. Even when he came back, it wasn't the same KG. He was still intense mentally BUT didn't have the world class motor he used to have to back it up.
