When Jordan's teams lost (1985-1990), his supporting cast generally didn't underperform their regular season performance - his supporting cast played to their RS capacity (or very near), but simply weren't as good as the other team.. (here's simple example: look at 1987 1st Round - Oakely went from 14/13 in RS to 20/15 vs. Boston).
Since MJ's supporting cast didn't underperform, his team never lost as the favorite, or even when they were 50/50 to win.. MJ's teams only lost when NO ONE thought they would win.
When Lebron's team loses, his supporting cast invariably underperforms their RS performance significantly - this explains why he lost when his team was the favorite, or at least 50/50 to win (2009 ECF, 2010 ECSF, 2011 Finals, 2014 Finals)...
And we know why - at the highest level of competition, Lebron's teammates can no longer thrive as the predictable play-finishers his ball-dominance turned them into.
