Yes, he was very agile for a 7'.

The ultimate offensive weapon... No stopping.

Reminds me of Durant, a tad slower, with better post moves.

Top 20.

You mean Kristaps Porzingis?

Porzingis will never be the attackers Dirk is and was.

If he can provide athletic and aggressive D and rebounding with 20 ppg offense, he might try to accede at the same level. IF.

Porzingis is already good as hell, almost at an all star level, and hes only 19. I don't think he can hold up as a 7'3'' guy but if he can he could maybe reach Dirkules' level.

if he's in this years draft, he still wont make the no.1 pick.

Andrea Bargnani screwed up the white power race.

I don't know if I can think of a a 7 footer who was quicker and more fluid with the ball in his hands.

People usually throw KG into that conversation, but he's more of an obvious athlete (high vertical, etc) whereas Dirk always worked totally on the horizontal plane. Who's more athletic though, prime JR Smith or Pierce? If you say Smith, why? Who was better at getting to the basket? Smith could jump higher once he got there, but he hardly ever got there. His brand of athleticism didn't serve him as well on the court. KG for all his talent, didn't get into the paint or to the line nearly as often as Dirk 2008-2012.

He's a big piece of corrugated cardboard on defense, but somehow his offensive talent was unreal. Still is, actually; he's still making some iso drives even at his advanced age.

I don't know about Mikan or Pettit.

Also, I don't know how to rate Ervng's ABA years

Also, I have Russell out of my Top 15. I know it is highly unpopular but I don't think he was a better basketball player than Dirk.

You can always tell if someone watched Dirk in his younger days. Because they refer to Dirk as "just a shooter"...and it's so ignorant

A common play would be Dirk catching the ball on the wing 18 feet from the basket...facing up in triple threat...and just blowing by guys to the rim or taking a pull up...or driving and taking a step back...etc.

He had such bounce and spring to his step...and had a great triple threat game and handle for his size to go with it

Well he already provides athletic and aggressive D and rebounding. 2 blocks per game, 8 boards in only 27 minutes and if you watch him, he rarely shys away from contact. He's scoring 13 points on decent percentages but he's being asked to create a lot on this Knicks team.

I believe he has all the potential in the world to end up being a skinnier Dirk who goes to 10+ all star games and is MVP worthy at his peak barring injury.

I think realistically, he has no case careerwise over those guys. After that, the picture becomes a little fuzzier. I think 11-20 is much more difficult to pick than a clear cut top 10.

How you know you are an elite player.

You average 22/12/2 54% TS...119 ortg... while a team plays in front and behind...and doubles on the catch frequently....and everyone is asking "what's wrong with him"?

2002-2007. Dirk >>>> 2008-2012 Dirk

That's tough. I believe 2002-2007 Dirk was a much better athlete with sick one on one skills but was very weak minded.

2008-2012 Dirk, experienced a humiliating loss to MIA and ventured out to prove to everyone he wasn't as soft as perceived.

Dirk of 2008-2012 was a better willing defender who hit big shots and big shots.

A horrible team like the sixers would benefit from a 2002-2007 Dirk.
A decent team like the Suns would benefit from 2008-2012.

PP34 ;
Dirk was playin in run n gun system , he was hustling against tough centers , he was the main rebounder of Mavs . I love him as a 2002-2007 Dirk .

And He had better defending in his younger than after 2008 .

After 2008 , No more hustling, no more rebounding , no more running and no more defending .

Yes , he had better shooting, post skills and he was more clutch than his younger after 2008 . But that was less all around effect and impact to the game . I didn't like that .

no he didnt :oldlol:

And you just said he played in a higher paced system and you're surprised his rebounding went down? Plus, its normal for it to go down regardless.

2002-2007 Dirk has 102 Drtg and %14 TRB % .

2008-2012 Dirk has 105 Drtg and %12.4 TRB % .

(At season)

Dirk had %15.2 TRB before 2007 , %13.4 After 2007 in Playoffs .
