Seeing what he's capable of sometimes, I wonder if he's one of the most inconsistent players in the league?
Sometimes he activates this level of play that he's nowhere close to rest of the time.

JR Smith comes to mind, but yes he gets on these unbelievable hot streaks where he can't miss regardless of difficulty.

He's a shooter who has bad shooting games like any other star. Consistent scorer who has big games like any other star.

Inconsistent/streaky are guys like the already mentioned JR, Gerald Green, Crawford, etc.

Has everything to do with the kind of shots he takes (and JR takes). In their run and gun offense they're unguardable when he hits those quick 3s. It's kind of by design i guess

Are you guys seriously comparing Klay Thompson to J.R. Smith???

Thompson shoots 10% better than him from the field and 9% better from 3. He is clearly the superior player. Thompson is averaging 19 points a game, it's just that when Curry goes off for 35 you don't hear about Klay's 22.

He is consistent with the ability to go into robot mode like he did last night.

No...Thompson is generally pretty good and rarely has BAD shooting games, and he always brings it on defense.

id say streaky more than inconsistent

He literally maybe the most inconsistent player of all time when you look at his highs and lows. He has relatively many 25+ point quarters including the record, yet he's shit in the finals, averages "only" 18-21 ppg and it really isn't that big of a deal to anyone if he scores in single digits. You look at his high scoring quarters and you would think he was one of the leaders in scoring and one of the greatest scorers in history. Pretty odd.

The problem is, he lets Curry do his thing most nights but every now and again he'll explode and Curry will let him do his thing.

I wouldn't call that inconsistent at all.

He's an inconsistent shooter, not an inconsistent player.

That's an important difference. When JR Smith's shot stops falling, he starts making stupid mistakes on defense and missing plays on offense. Thompson is a pure shooter who goes on hot and cold streaks. But his defense, movement, and passing are always on point.
