View Full Version : Kevin Durant had the most stacked roster in recent history and still lost the Finals

Russell Westbrook
Kevin Durant
James Harden
Serge Ibaka
Reggie Jackson
Thabo Sefolosha
Kendrick Perkins
Nick Collison

This team is absolutely stacked. It has multiple high level ball handlers and distributors, fantastic spacing, very solid and deep defense, very talented guys that can come off the bench and create a variety of difficult match ups...

This team was beautiful. Such a shame they couldn't get it done.

STACKED as ****.

What makes it worse is he lost to LeBaldo who is the definition of a mental midget in his own right, sporting a finals record of 2/6.

If you can't get it done against a guy like that, I don't see it happening for you.

And no the warriors are less stacked. We just mesh better as a team because of unselfish players and lack of players who statpad and chuck.

Wow....
KD is a scoring champ, MVP, and perennial Allstar
James Harden can flop to 20 fts and has excellent body control and can handle the ball.
Russell Westbrook is an athletic freak and can get to the basket at will.
Serge a great rim protector and great defensive anchor
Reggie Jackson will most likley be an Allstar this year
Thabo Sefelosha is a great perimeter defender and can shoot the rock
Prime Perkins>Prime Shaq
Collision is Dirk mixed with Tim Duncan.

I usually I don't know if it's Lebrons flopping or KD and the thunder choking to death.
What a disappointment.

Rookie/sophomore years for players like Harden, Reggie Jackson or Ibaka at that point. They are much better players now than they was. Still much less stacked and balanced than current Warriors.

Reggie Jackson?

That was his rookie year and he damn sure wasn't good enough to see the floor in a meaningful game...and he didn't. And Perkins sucked in 2012. He wasn't Boston Celtics Kendrick Perkins.

All the other big names (KD, Russ, Serge, Harden) were 22 and 23 year olds playing against prime and/or peak LeBron, Wade, and Bosh, two of which were playing in their third Finals and the other was playing in his 3rd.

But hey, if you just want to ignore all context that's fine. Just don't expect anyone with a brain to take this thread seriously.

Agreed about the players. I know you were joking but seriously though Perkins was a great low post defender and rebounder and Collision was a solid big coming off the bench. The rest of their roster were made up capable contributers as well.

stacked means nothing if your 2 best players cant coexist. If the team is better without westbrook, then whats really the point of stacked. Hopefully donovan could reign westbrook. There the only ones who could challenge GSW.

If the Warriors don't win the title this year, you can be sure there'll be a ton of threads about how the Warriors choked. Also, you'll disappear for a while.

Kinda remember Harden not playing well, Brooks not coaching well, and Perkins being a bad matchup for the Thunder with the Heat's small ball lineup.

I also kinda remember Durant averaging 30 on 55% in his first finals, while bing guarded by Lebron James in his prime.

What did Curry do against that Aussie?

OKC ran through the West with a 12-3 record which includes beating the home court advantage Spurs. (who had many vets in that WCF)

Then they were favored over Miami before the Finals tipped off

What did Curry do against that Aussie?

http://s10.postimg.org/q4yxu3e13/Curry_Injured.gif

This happened less than a week before the Finals.

Curry suffered a concussion and a back and shoulder injury. He was experiencing dizziness and blured vision up to a month later...He should of not even played in the Finals it was a major neglect of the concussion protocals of the NBA.

Injured Curry also received not only the most double teams and defensive attention in NBA Finals history, he also faced perhaps the most physical defense as well.

There was no foul called on this play.

This was one of only the numerous occasions where they allowed extremely physical play, hand checking and jersey grabbing was no called throughout the entire series as well.

So in spite of a severely injured Steph Curry facing the most aggressive defenses in the history of the game, he still put up 26/5/6/2 on 59% TS.

So what?

That doesn't make it a bad loss in the finals to lose to the 12 Heat.

You guys are acting like that series was lopsided in favor of the Thunder and they suffered a huge upset or something. Just a great team beating another great team.

An all time great player losing to an even better all time great player.

Literally nothing noteworthy in that finals at all in terms of the Thunder other than Harden sucking ass in some key games/moments.

Didn't imply that it was.

Just pointing out that those saying OKC was young (which they were) it didn't stop them from getting to the Finals quite easily against the so-called "dominant Western Conference" while facing many vets along the way.

dafuq? They most definitely do, they were favorites going into the series, and lost 3/4 games in the last minute.

They'd rip last years Warriors, tbh. Just like the 2012 Spurs would, who'm they beat.

had durant been an alpha. He wouldnt allow a 2nd option have more shot attempts than him. But well see what this team is capable of with an alpha coach donovan. He is already making westbrook pass.

And real talk, OKC shouldnt be in the finals. Stern clearly wants to have that durant-bran rivalry.

Durant-Iso-Ball stifled James Harden's opportunities to utilize his talents.

Not that he had every right to do so, but it was reasonable and understandable. No one knew what Harden was capable of yet. A player with potential can score 20/4/4 which is what I expected from Harden in Houston, but no, he rose & blew everyone's mind.

I really don't want to state the obvious now. Let it go. :lol

Yeah, after he left the Durant-Iso-Ball situation he blossomed into the player he should of always been. It's pretty obvious to see what was holding him back.

wtf are you even talking about ? they didnt lose because they couldnt coexist. they lost because they simply could not defend the heat.
