Isn't that too much for him?

He's one of the best big men in the league, why would it be too much?

He should receive 1 million for every assist he gets. Incentives ftw

He hasn't played enough to see how good he is actually, we have seen guys like Lin play great for a period of time and then go to being to average.

Whiteside is 7 ft tall and has extraordinary athleticism. That alone is enough to get you paid. See DeAndre Jordan.

That's a steal for Goatside. He's worth every penny.

Lin isn't a supremely athletic 7 footer with legit skills. Apple vs Orange.

How much is left if he gets that much, though? Bench could still use work. Too many stacked teams these days you gotta fight fire with fire.

Heat have about 50 million in committed salaries for 2016, and the salary cap is going to fall anywhere between 90-92 million. Regardless of what the market demands, the Heat won't have any issues retaining him + another decent addition. I believe the max he can make is like 21 million as a starting salary. He's got a full season to prove himself again, though.

Not many intriguing free agents left though

18.8 million for a guy not only with an elementary iq, but also the maturity of a baby.

Well then he better not f*ck it up with his maturity issues.

Wouldn't give him more than 10. Dude has major red flags over his head. Bet he's out of the league within a couple of years.

Easy there. He played well for half a season.

Damn...Kareem and Russell ought to think about making comebacks.

Whiteside is overrated. He has nice stats, but his impact is not as large as you might think.

His RPM is only +0.68, and he averages 1 assist every 8 games ...

Think he's over-rated, but if Wes Matthews is making 17.5 million a year before the cap increase coming off an achilles injury...and Reggie Jackson is making 80 million and Knight is making 70 million...and Parsons is making 16.5 million....etc.

Not sure why at 26 years old Whiteside wouldn't be due to make roughly 20 million a year given the market and where the cap is going.

Also, he can definitely improve his game over the next two seasons quite a bit.
