Don't they have like 19 big men already?

Has to be something else. Lee is a much better player than Wallace. Warriors likely got something or they have another deal in place.

Actually, they have a ton of undersized combo guards.

I mean, at this point, why not!

Who is the odd guy out here then? Sullinger? Olynyk? Zeller?

I think it is just to honor his request of trading him while getting someone who won't mess up their cap.

Wouldn't take David Lee over any of those, he's bench depth.

They just let of Brandon Bass so there is at least 1 spot open up.

If it is straight up, important to remember that this just adds to the mammoth haul from the Pierce/Garnett trade. James Young, Isaiah Thomas +3 more 1sts still

I guess. I guess the Warriors could just stretch Wallace and save money on tax, but giving up Lee for nothing here...I don't know about that.

Why did Gerald Wallace fall off so fast? He was still solid, in say, 2011 (?), and now he's a complete scrub

Dude had years of 19/6/4, 18/7/3, 17/8/3 and 18/10/2.

They really didn't. They got a one year rental for a, if healthy, really good big man, and will shred another extra 5m off the books when his contract expires next summer.

They shaved $5.5 million off the cap by trading a guy who fell out of the rotation. Understandable.

Wallace was such a beast in his prime. I wonder how much he has left in the tank for GS. Probably none.

Boston should now try to get Zach Randolph too.

Lee and Randolph would be a formidable frontline.

I think it saves about 12m or more in tax as well.

So the savings will be huge for the Warriors.

Hate to see David go though. Stand up guy. Glad he got a ring.

David Lee is a 17 and 10 player. I'm curious what we do at PF because I do believe Sully is a legit starting PF when healthy.

The Warriors are not paying that hefty luxury tax. Maybe Wallace can retire and the Warriors can stretch his salary.

Pretty sure injuries, no? I know he's at least had knee and ankle surgery within the last couple years. Considering his playing style... Always thought Wallace was the type who wouldn't be able to walk around 45. When your nickname is crash, your body probably has no chance.

He still has a lot left imo. But he was sitting on the bench at GS being wasted. He should be good for Boston.

Great trade by Boston. Although Lee is a poor defensive player for the most part he's a very good offensive big that will help them score points. Good post moves, good passer, can actually create his own shot and good finisher near the rim.

I am. But he wasn't gonna get any playing time while costing them a bunch of money in salary plus tax. Hate to see him go but I'm happy he's going somewhere where he can help.

His teammates loved him, he got a ring and was a double double machine prior to Mark Jackson arriving. Runs the floor, shows heart, and provided a spark to help GSW win the Trophy. Def will be missed.

I know Wallaces contract was pretty big, but how does that compare to Lee's contract? did we save money or just take on a bigger contract?

$5.5m more. @dangercart who runs some cap subreddit thinks that if the Celts sign them in the right order, the Celtics still have $4m in space to include in a trade with Sully & Turner

David Lee's 1.8 AST:TO ratio last season is terrific for a big man. Also shot 61% on cuts; his main source of PTS. High BBIQ still a plus.

I doubt Wallace ever plays a game in a Warriors jersey. I'm surprised we couldn't get more for Lee to be honest. An equal expirer at the very least. Maybe we got offers from teams we didn't want Lee to end up on. For example, the Cavs should have been all over Lee for Haywood's expirer.

Trading Lee for Wallace actually saves the Warriors about $20 million given all the luxury tax. That's not insignificant. Even more savings if they use the stretch provision on Wallace.

OH SHIT!

I don't even know how to feel about this. I'm just happy we made a pretty big trade.

Who am I kidding? This is a f*cking amazing trade. We gave up a big expiring contract in an absolutely useless player for an even BIGGER expiring contract for a solid 18 and 10 guy when healthy. There's literally nothing to lose, even if he doesn't play one minute for the Cs.

Ainge with that trade magic once again. How great is our gawd? :applause:

Power forwards - Johnson, Sullinger, Lee, Olynyk, Jerebko
smurfs - Thomas, Smart, Bradley, Rozier

There will likely be another shoe to drop.

Love the trade, I'm also happy to get rid of Wallace, never liked him on the C's, was the one negative piece that came back on the PP/KG deal.

Like this move though, one year left on Lee's deal, if it doesn't work out theres not much risk involved, he can just walk in free agency.

Lets see how we do this year.

Reflecting all afternoon and evening about the moves made since the draft...and how this offense played last year...

Does Danny think he's going to get away with a Warriors-style game just because it won GS a title?

Going small and shooting a lot from the outside with a bevy of guards and forwards who are all shorter than 6' 9"? Some strong perimeter defenders with mostly undersized guys protecting the rim in big minutes? Does he know our guys aren't remotely the same caliber shooters as Curry, Thompson, etc. to make that work?

I know the East is bad, but its not so bad that this would work is it?

He's had none. There's a reason he got no time on a 7th seed playoff team.
