I've seen some defenders point to the 17/9 he averaged with Detroit in an example to defend the contract. Last season DJ Augustin averaged 18/8 in his 14 starts for Detroit and Brandon Jennings averaged 18/7 in his starts for Detroit. Both were far more efficient than Jackson as well. 16/year for a pg that's not even top 15 in the league

what do you think they should have offered him?

It's going to be considered an average contract soon.

thing is he's just not a very good NBA player. he doesnt have any skills and relies solely on his athleticism

4 years 44 million is about right given the contracts handed out this summer. His actual value is probably 3 years 24 million

Single handedly saved Durant and the Thunder vs. memphis in the playoffs.

Yep. That is his value. Being a 6th man...first guy off the bench.

He's not an 80 million dollar starter.

In one role he's great...in the other he hurts your team because you have to pay way too much for him and he's not good enough on the court to warrant it.

4yr/48 million would have been a fair deal....and that's what the Thunder offered him.

He was still adjusting to the team at the start.

Last 16 games:

20 PPG 56 TS%
5 RBD
11 AST

Come on man....every player gives 300% effort when they sniff a new contract..

Even Kanter averaged 19/12 on a 57% FG

Fair for the Thunder... Blazers, Clippers, Cavs, Dubs where he slots behind an elite pg. Pistons don't have that. Not even close.

Kanter was very nice but a horrific defender. Sadly as a center defense is very important and thus his value isn't very high.

I agree with this, but he's still not the kind of player you throw this contract at.
