Didn't JR and Melo have career seasons that recent 50 win season?

Melo's career has been best in Denver and JR... well he's not exactly a NY favourite over there. :confusedshrug:

Jeremy Lin?
Probably the only exception.. and that's because he was D'Antoni's golden child.

Historically, most players who leave their original team don't do better on the new team. There are exceptions to the rule, but if you go through the top players of all time, you see them doing best with their original drafting team.

Amare was having his best season before going down to injury.

Shaq? LeBron? Moses? Barkley?

Honestly, Chris Duhon is the only player I can think of. His first season under D'Antoni his stats were inflated but put up career highs but the next season he was poor.

I also think Al Harrington as well. He averaged something like 20ppg when has traded here and he was pretty much our #1 option that year. Always thought he was a very good offensive player. Good skill for a player his height

You can't count Lee or other draftees because they were drafted..

Thanks for pointing out the exceptions.

Pippen? Love? Bosh? Dwight?

I'd also argue that Lebron was at his statistical and personal best in 2009 and 2010 with Cleveland. He just didn't have the team around him to get over the hump.

Lol, Pippen was in his mid 30's when he left the Bulls. Bosh & Love went from first options on terrible teams to third options on championship caliber teams, of course their production is going to take a dip. Dwight I'll give you, it's like that experience with the Lakers scarred him.

I just found that statement weird, I don't think there's any real correlation between how you do on your original team compared to ones afterword. I could name tons of players who were much better or successful after their original teams, guys like CP3, Kidd, Nash, McGrady, Webber, Billups etc.

kind of hard to improve when you go through coaches and systems like toilet paper. Hence the Jackson signing.

Pippen was 33 when he joined the Rockets, and his production fell off a cliff compared to the previous year.

McGrady falls into the exception list, but that's because he left Toronto at 21 years old before he was close to his prime. CP3 had his best season statistically with New Orleans when he should have won MVP.

The guys you are naming are also guys who got traded before hitting their prime, in their early 20s. There are very few that fall into that category which joined the Knicks.

Carmelo Anthony had his best season on the Knicks in 2012-2013. That was the only season you could say he was a Top Five player in the league.

Al Harrington

I forgot about him. Where the hell is he? Retired already?

Can't be older than Kobe.

Carmelo had his best seasons in NY. 2013 and 2014(didn't win much in 14 but not his fault)
