Just wanna know your opinions on this since I saw this topic else where and was intrigued by the responses.

Out of all the champions from 2000-2015, who do you think would win it all if they all went against each other in playoff setting?

01 Lakers
02 Lakers
03 Spurs
04 Pistons
05 Spurs
06 Heat
07 Spurs
08 Celtics
09 Lakers
10 Lakers
11 Mavericks

I wasn't much interested in 04 pistons at all in the regular season cause I really thought the Lakers were a shoe-in for winning it all. What did they have that all the others didn't for you guys to put them up there?

2001 Lakers and then everyone else.

Sweeping the 50 win Blazers in the 1st round, the 55 win Kings in the 2nd round and the 58 win Spurs in the C. Finals and then dominating the 76ers.
The West was stacked and they didn't lose a single game.

Shaq/Kobe giving you almost 30 PPG throughout the playoffs that year.

You realize the 2001 Lakers not only swept an insanely stacked West, they also beat the Spurs so bad they set a record for margin of victory in any Conference Finals ever.

2001 Lakeshow, not close.

01 Lakers, they could arguably sweep all of them

'04 Pistons get so overrated. They were down 2-3 at one point vs an unimpressive Nets with Jason Kidd playing one of his worst series ever. Detroit also had stretches where it looked like they couldn't score at all and beating a dysfunctional Lakers team that had no depth or Karl Malone is nothing to brag about. They were worthy champions, but one of the best of the last 15 years? Hell No!!

I think it would be a 2001 Lakers vs 2015 Warriors Finals, Lakers coming out on top. They had the greatest duo ever (Both top 10 players ever) and some nice pieces around them, we never seen a team dominate the postseason like that Lakers team did.

The Lakers punked the league, and specifically poor DRob and Duncan in that WCF. Ungodly blowout margins I think those Laker destroy everything in sight. Including themselves in '02 :lol

Some teams would have homecourt against them and take a game or two. '09 Lakers, '12 Heat, '14 Spurs and '05 Spurs could all win 1-2 games through either:

1. A truly great player willing his team to win

Or

2. All-around great team effort.

Still, a prime Shaq, first-year-of-alpha Kobe and a piping Fisher and others, aren't being stopped. They sweep 8-10 teams, and beat the others I selected in 5-6.

I will say, a '13 Heat with Jan-feb health probably give them trouble because of pure offensive capability, but that's reaching.

Ranking them by SRS (this disregards the injuries; not a perfect measurement by any means)

15 Warriors - 10.01
08 Celtics - 9.30
00 Lakers - 8.41
07 Spurs - 8.35
14 Spurs - 8.00
05 Spurs - 7.84
02 Lakers - 7.15
09 Lakers - 7.11
13 Heat - 7.03
12 Heat - 5.72
03 Spurs - 5.65
04 Pistons - 5.04
10 Lakers - 4.78
11 Mavericks - 4.41
01 Lakers - 3.74
06 Heat - 3.59

Opponents average SRS

01 Lakers - 5.54
02 Lakers - 5.19
00 Lakers - 4.70
11 Mavericks - 4.61
14 Spurs - 4.54
03 Spurs - 4.15
10 Lakers - 4.23

09 Lakers - 3.91
07 Spurs - 3.84
05 Spurs - 3.81
06 Heat - 3.46
12 Heat - 3.42
15 Warriors - 3.16

04 Pistons - 2.90
08 Celtics - 2.81
13 Heat - 2.04

Looking at it this way, no doubt the 01 Lakers. Got to tip your hat at the consistency of the Lakers and Spurs teams overall.

22 point margin a victory is what they averaged vs the Spurs.

Kobe put up 33/7/7/57% and Shaq had a good series too with 27/13/3/55%

Unstoppable duo.

The three best teams over that time is the 2001 Los Angeles Lakers, 2008 Boston Celtics and the 2014 San Antonio Spurs.

In order of the best first, it would be the Lakers, followed by San Antonio, and then Boston.

What the fucc does this guy have against The Spurs :biggums:

After the Lakers won their first of three straight championships in 2000, Kobe heard rumors going around that they were lucky because Tim Duncan was injured and thus the 1999 champion Spurs couldn't defend their title.

Thank goodness these two teams ended up meeting in the 2001 playoffs to settle it on the court and show the world who the better team was. Kobe decided he wanted to dominate the Spurs and send a message to them by posterizing Duncan and Robinson every chance he got.

In their house.

"We were getting after them the whole series," Bryant said. "We didn't let down. Even at times when it seemed like we should, we actually turned it up."

In front of 36,000 Spurs fans, he simply played one of his greatest games.

His 7 straight baskets in the 1st half help his team to take the lead. Torching the Spurs and impressing his own teammates, Kobe scored 28pts, recorded 5 dunks in the 2nd half. He finished with 45pts & 10rbds.

At the end of the game, Shaq told the journalists something to remember: “I told Kobe he was my idol. I’m serious. He’s the best player in the league.”

2001 Lakers

2005 Spurs

Don't think it's fair to have that Lakers team in this. They're put near or at the top of the list of all time great teams in the history of the NBA. Better question is who's #2.

Since the consensus seems to be 01 Lakers, I'll go with 05 Spurs.

Duncan, Rasho, Nazr - Shaq
Bowen - Kobe
Manu/Brent Barry - Fox
Parker - Fisher
Horry - Horry/Grant (05 Horry - 9.3 pts vs 01 Horry 5.9 pts)

So the depth/versatility of Spurs vs dominance of Shaq

For those who say 2015 Warriors - don't think any of the championship teams from 2011 (or even 08 Celtics) have the big men to deal with Prime Shaq.

You say vs the dominance of Shaq yet Kobe had better numbers vs The Spurs that year.

I'm sorry, but this is a sweep.

You say vs the dominance of Shaq yet Kobe had better numbers vs The Spurs that year.

My criteria is how the teams match up vs each other - not the relative strength of teams using criteria like SRS which is judged against opponents from that year. Sports is all about match-ups - do you have players to defend your opponents and still put up decent amount of points. For instance, I think that any of the teams from 2011 onward would have no chance vs 01 Lakers because of the way the league is now (no good big men), they have no one to defend a prime Shaq. Likewise, even though 2008 Celtics is considered a great team who is gonna defend a prime Shaq? KG? Perkins?

I'm not worried about Kobe because 05 Spurs had a prime Bowen (to defend) and a prime Manu to (somewhat offensively) offset him. Once Shaq and Kobe are covered, then 05 Spurs are deeper/more talented than the rest of the Lakers. I'm not saying that 05 Spurs would beat 01 Lakers, but it would be an interesting contest vs no contest (say vs Lebron's Heat).

Spurs would rock that shit  ... 2005 nearly swept a Suns team that averaged 110 ppg and won 62 games with Nash, Amare, Joe Johnson, Shawn Marion, etc... Then they beat the defending champs and best defensive team in the league outside of themselves... Teams built around the Twin Towers were good too - alot depends on what kind of rules (pre/post hand checking) they're using imo
