My favorite was the Christmas game in 2006 with the two best perimeter players going head to head. It was billed as scoring champions vs finals MVP. Shaq was injured so he didn't play and I remember Kobe saying he could score 60 on Wade.
By the time the game was done, Wade had hung 40 points 11 assists, 4 steals and 4(!) blocks on 60 percent shooting including some insane spin moves and euro steps. Kobe ended the game with 4-17 shooting. It was a clinic by Wade back when he was at his best. Before his injuries. It's sad that THAT Wade didn't hang around for long. What could have been. His game was so beautiful to watch.

When did Kobe say he could score 60 on Wade?
Without that injury in 2007 Wade would win his first MVP and would have 2 Seasons equivalent to his 2009 Season.

Where's the 2006 one in LA? Those gotta be the best ones...
2005 in LA, Shaq return, Kobe scores 42, Wade closes...
2006 in LA, center stage once again, Kobe with 37 & W this time.

It was the day before the match. I remember the Miami beat writers all being offended by it. Agreed with your second point. He was playing extremely well until he got injured against Houston. There was a game against the spurs that fall where he scored 19 points or so in the last 10 minutes against the eventual NBA champions to almost single handily bring Miami back and win the game. He had a memorable back to back block sequence on Tony Parker. You could probably find it somewhere on YouTube.

That 2006 Christmas game was a disappointment because Kobe had the flu.

There we go! Wow, that's a long time ago. He just regressed into a whole other type of player. His first step there, as you can see, as so quick it's unreal. He was so flexible and could get to the rim at will. Lebron was always the other one who could make it to the rim whenever he liked albeit using his transcendent athleticism rather ran pure agility and finesse like Wade there. But boy, was Wade something back then. Incredible. Thanks for the video :applause:

So he says. I loved it nontheless. 40 points, 11 assists, 4 steals and 4 blocks on 60 percent shooting while holding the other guy to 4-17 is just insanely good no matter what. Jordan, incidentally, let us know just how much a flu could stop him.

The 2009 matchups were great. The Lakers won the home game if I'm not mistaken while the Heat won the one in Miami (the one where Wade hit that 28 footer at the 3rd quarter buzzer and then scored back to back buckets in the final minute and a half to take them to victory.) Games between Miami and LA were always fun to watch for most of us.
The 06 one in LA was when Bynum his Shaq with a spin move and the crowed erupted. Shaq looked simply stunned.

08-09 Wade was just ridiculous to watch.
Kobe was at 27/5/5 that year and couldn't hang with Wade.
Most of their match ups were very close except for some
06 Christmas Massacre was brutal.
Kobe in 2012 owning Wade after that brutal foul in the ASG
Even in 2013 they both went at each other. Wade had 27 and 30 point games while Kobe had 28 in both I believe.

Wade and Kobe have had some great battles over the years, and it's clear that there's legitimate mutual respect between them. Too bad they only played twice a year and never met in the finals. That would have been truly epic. It's unlikely we'll ever see two SG's of that caliber in the league again. Second and third greatest to ever do it.

That entire season up until the shoulder injury was one ridiculous game after another. He was playing at a historic level and was on his way to winning MVP. Despite his numbers dropping considerably after the injury, he still led the league in PER that season. That's how good he was before getting hurt. The final 2 months of '07 and the injured '08 season were sandwiched between 29/8/6/2.5/1, 30+ PER and 30/8/5/2.2/1.3, 30+ PER. Judging by those numbers, '08 had a chance to be Wade's absolute peak season. Damn you Shane Battier!

I loved watching the match ups....
You could tell Wade was always looking forward to play his best against Kobe....it was like he waited his whole life to show everyone he could be great like young Kobe was...
Reminded me of when Mitch Richmond would try his best against Michael Jordan.....Mitch had some great games..
That game winner Kobe hit in Wades grill took his soul.....then the all star game and the "foul out" game.....Wade hasn't been the same since

When you look at the big 3 perimeter player matchups in the mid-late 00's between Lebron/Kobe/Wade, Wade vs Kobe and Wade vs Lebron usually delivered more than Lebron vs Kobe which was THE hyped matchup. I remember when Wade and Lebron back in 2006 went mano a mano for like 40+ each, an amazing display for two young superstars before they hit their peak:

What does that have to do with Wade outplaying Kobe individually? :confusedshrug:
Another poster mentioned it but Kobe has always brought the best out of Wade. That's a sign of respect for Kobe, who Wade himself has always respected. That's what I liked about the rivalry. There wasn't a lot of yapping, just going out at each other and playing at a high level on the court.

Kobe's an all time great so it's not surprising that guys like Lebron and Wade get fired up playing against him. Like I said earlier, it's a sign of respect. I remember young Wade going off against Iverson a few times and Wade later said he was fired up to play against him because of how much he respected Iverson's game.

True Wade has owned Kobe in just about every one of their matchups since Kobe hit that game winner against him, but Kobe easily got him here; Wade even fouled out doing this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12eoXapHnes
You're showing me individual plays? I can bring up single plays as well.
Aside from that 2012 matchup in LA, Wade has gotten the upper hand on Kobe. Simple as that.

You are correct, my only point was that Kobe did indeed win one game against Wade and outplayed him, and that Wade hadn't beaten him every time since 2010. You are also right about showing individual plays, I've seen dozens of videos of Wade taking massive dumps on Kobe, especially after 2010.

Posted in here earlier, but my favorites are the game from late 2008 in Miami (2009 season), the 2006 game with Shaq and Bynum beefing @ LA, Kobe's game winner in Wade's face, and the 2010 game @ Miami when both exchanged clutch shots on one another.
Epic battles from these gentlemen. Best 2 guards after Mike.

It was just a confusing post from that other guy, claiming since Kobe hit the game winner he's been outplaying Wade. Aside from that 2012 game it has been all Wade.

This version of Wade is the 2nd best player I have ever seen. Better than Kobe, better than LeBron better than Iverson. Only Jordan was better. Too bad it didn't last long but it was memorable.

Smoke, just shut the **** up about this already or I'm going to embarrass you due to your lack of bball knowledge.. actually I'ma do it anyway..
05 Kobe didn't even make the all defensive team, Wade was still 2nd team.. must be Kobe's fault though?
06 Wade didn't even make the second team in 2006, how are you gonna blame a 1st teamer for stealing his spot? That doesn't make any sense
07 Wade didn't play enough games
08 Wade didn't play enough games
How can you blame any of that on Kobe "stealing his spot"
09 he didn't beat out Chris Paul. There are 2 guard spots buddy.

I never said it was completely Kobe's fault that Wade is underrated defensively...but Kobe didnt' deserve to garner any of those first team nods. His best defensive season was the 2000 season BEFORE he started caring more about scoring 30 points a game than playing great all around ball. He certainly wasn't a first team all defensive caliber player in the latter half of the last decade or any part of the one were in now. Rondo, CP3, Wade were ALL BETTER than Kobe. The fact that Wade wasn't even 2nd team in 2011 and Kobe was first team is a great example of what a bunch of horse shit the all defensive nods are...Wade was still playing great defense in 2011 and Kobe was mediocre at best...yet who is first team while Wade isn't on any team? I don't even think you Kobe stans even watched him play to think he was ever more than decent defensive player careerwise. I don't see how you can be so biased to not believe what your own eyes tell you. The last 5 years of his career before he got injured he was a legit mediocre defensive player making the all nba first team (and 2nd team)...that's just a fact.

...Kobe didn't deserve to be first team all defensive in 09, 10, or 11. How is that biased? The eye test and the advanced stat test show him to be mediocre to decent those seasons. He certainly wasn't close to Wade's level in those years. If Wade wasn't making the all defensive first team those 3 years than it should have been somebody else besides Kobe...that's for damn sure. Kobe stole first team all defensive nods from many players throughout his career...not just Wade. Though I suppose more accurately it's that the coaches just didn't give a shit and didn't want to take the time to give legitimate selections.

and of course all I got was the classic Smoke response of "**** Kobe **** I'm angry"

Well I guess you put one over on me eh? Congratulations! :applause: :applause: :applause:

Wade was better imo. Hard to compare West since I've never seen him play in real time.
Wade > West IMO

Between Wade and West its really a toss up but I would give the slight advantage to Wade.

The only thing West has over Wade is stats and he has that over Kobe as well. Kobe and West are flat out better players than West.
Going back to the defensive teams, Wade definitely got snubbed a bunch of times. He deserved first teams in '05, '09, '10, and '11. 2nd teams '06, '12, and '13. Yeah, '13. Dude was really good on the defensive end and his clutch defense actually won the Heat a couple of games during the streak. People forget that Wade was a top 10 player during the RS in '13. 21/5/5/2/1 on 52% with elite defense.

I'd say he should've been 1st Team in '12.
