I don't see all those players working that well together. Especially MJ and Lebron. Definitely redundant talents.

Cp3 can't guard Curry. Mj destroys Kobe. LJ plays better defense then Bird and can match his all around game.

That's a pretty good team. To me, you have the greatest 2, 3, 4 (prime) and 5 (prime) ever. Talk about rim protection and athleticism at the 4 and 5 and off the off the charts athleticism at the wings. That's some defense right there.

And Curry is a better option than a guy like Magic or Isiah because he brings deadly shooting to the table and can space the floor better.

Exactly why I put Curry. The floor will be spread with Curry and KG(Midrange) for the two greatest attack the basket players ever.

I guess I'll choose a team...

Payton
Moncrief
Barea
Sheed
Shaq

Done.
Bron will be useless.
Moncrief is the "only" SG to outplay Jordan in the playoffs. So now your two best players are neutralized.
Sheed notoriously got in KGs head. He's done.
Payton is the best defensive PG ever. He can slow Curry.
Then Shaq v Hakeem? I like my chances.

What about their offence?
Good question.

Does Barea's midget juju work on Bron on offense, too?

Otherwise I guess Payton could post up the sissy Curry.
Shaq could attempt to demolish Hakeem.
Moncrief can do his thing.
And Sheed can rain stupid jumpers.

From a previous thread on a similar topic:

I believe that the following "team" could give them a serious scare.

C- 1994 Hakeem
PF- 2008 KG
SF- 1996 Pippen
SG- 1994 Reggie Miller
PG- 2002 Jason Kidd (I struggled between '02 Kidd, '93 Stockton, '96 Payton, and '05 Billups.)

Other than Reggie Miller, this is a dominant defensive lineup. With Pippen's and KG's defensive versatility and ability to cover entire areas, Reggie's limited defensive presence is nullified. Team defense is more important than individual defense anyways.

The OP's team consisted of players who each were the #1 scoring options for their teams. No player avg. fewer than 22ppg, and three avg. over 25ppg. The offensive chemistry on that team would be horrible. This is significant because how each player played the game in the seasons indicated must be considered. '87 Magic can't be chosen, and then say he wouldn't look to score. If a pass-first Magic or a less offensive minded Duncan were desired then maybe the '85 and '07 versions, respectively, should have been chosen.

Of my team, during the seasons mentioned, the only two players who were clearly their team's first scoring options were Hakeem and Miller. (You could argue Kidd was, but he still avg. only 14.7ppg and played in a very balanced offense.) Hakeem provides dominant inside scoring, while Miller provides quality outside and clutch shooting, spacing the floor. (Outside shooting is another reason why I considered Stockton or Billups. With them you don't give up that much defensive presence either.) Pippen and KG were content not be first options but could easily given you 20+ points if necessary. So this team would not suffer offensively.

While my team is obviously a drop in overall talent compared to the OP's team, it yet consists of hall of fame players in or near their prime, and I feel it would have more synergy.

For a real team, I guess I would go...
Stockton
West
Pippen
Karl
Wilt

Just as much athleticism, equivalent shooting, better-defined roles, less all-around ego. Pretty much an equivalent team with more clearly defined roles.

This era's rules?

88' MJ - DPOY Jordan
13' Durant - 51/42/91 shooting for 28ppg and his best year as a defender
94' Pippen - arguably his best year as a defender
13' Lebron - excellent shooting, played a lot of PF, great defense
02' Duncan - Duncan's best year, he was such a beast on both ends that season and he's one of the greatest, if not the greatest running big men the league has seen

Can you imagine how much of a nightmare this team would be defensively?

Other than Shaq, I think your team gets eaten alive.

Curry and Lebron are the only two players that can really create their own shot.. But they're guarded by themselves, so the defender would know what the offensive player is doing before the offensive player actually does it. So your offense is ground to a halt, relying on Allen to create against Jordan, Dirk to create against KG. Good luck with that.

Gotta love the paradoxes (if the correct word) of players playing themselves.

I'm pretty sure he using Prime ray allen and ge could create his own shot.

I like the idea of Magic on Curry. Magic's size should bother Curry quite a bit. But the issue with Magic at PG is that you then need to surround him with shooting, which you did, but TMac and Bird lack the one-on-one defense needed to attempt to contain MJ and Lebron.

PG: '97 Payton (a little better offensively than '96)
SG: '06 Kobe
SF: '08 Pierce
PF: '03 Duncan
C: '90 Ewing

Almost tempting to go with prime Shawn Kemp because of the Rockets' struggles in the mid-90s with Seattle, but I like this too.

:wtf:

MJ and LeBron would destroy the other team defensively and get fastbreaks galore. Plus MJ was great off ball, awesome cutter, good mid range shooter. MJ and LeBron would wreck any team
