There have only been 6 teams to win the titles since then. Spurs, Lakers, and Heat account for 13 of them.

Spurs - 5
Lakers - 5
Heat - 3
Pistons - 1
Celtics - 1
Mavericks - 1

Going to be 7th different champion in the 21st century this year.

Also, if you go back to the start of the 3 point line era in the NBA, only the Lakers and Texas teams have won titles for the West.

Lakers - 10
Spurs - 5
Rockets - 2
Mavericks - 1

This criteria can change to California teams if either the Warriors or Clippers win the title. Rockets have a chance too.
