JR has been one of the most Misused players ever. George Karl was terrible for his career. Glad to see his image being raised, but it shouldn't have been very hard over the last 10 years for someone to try not making him a primary option in such a huge amount of his minutes. Karl was spitefully sabotaging him, and then there have been other coaches so dumb as to copy how Karl used him.

Karl treated J.R pretty unfairly at times and put him in the doghouse. In his defense J.R Smith has no basketball awareness. Incredibly streaky and goes from winning you games to shooting you out of games pretty quickly. Very talented and could have been an All-Star with even average basketball IQ.

Don't see why people are so high on J.R right now. He's averaging 13 points. He probably had his best season with George Karl. Year he averaged 15/3/3 and helped Denver take L.A to 6 games. 2 wins away from the finals and Karl using J.R as a sparkplug off the bench was a big reason in that.

J.R can be effective in the right role and with a talented team/coaching staff. Knicks were a mess, awful spot for J.R.

This is basically the first time J.R has been part of a starting rotation with any team he's been on (started 45 out of 46 games with Cavs) playing with the "same" players more often than he was coming off the bench in Denver and NY

JR's "journey" from worst to first...

The Knicks were so desperate to trade the bum that they took the first offer that actually included something, anything, other than a bottle of Gatorade.

He went to a stacked team to play with Kyrie, Love and LeBeta in a historically weak conference.

End of story.
