Wow impressive
5 games is a lot.

A 60 win team is much different from a 55 win team
55 compared to 50
50 compared to 45
etc

5 games is significant considering how good the West was this year. Possibly a historically strong Western Conference and Davis leads a pretty meh squad to the playoffs, that's impressive.

Anthony Davis is in a league of his own. Comparing him to K Love actually does him a disservice.

His squad was pretty good, they were winning some games with him out not too lonng ago.

His team is significantly better than what Love had around him last year, that's for sure.

The Kevin Love/stat lover fans will have one less player to use as a comparison to KLove during his Minnesota years. Kevin Love was overrated then, and if there was ever any doubt, he is proving this year on a title contending team, that he is an above average, possibly star player, and no more.

Anthony Davis will now rightfully take his place as a player of great impact as his stats suggest. He made his team better and he willed his team to the playoffs in a very competitive conference.

No mention that a big reason why Davis and the Pelicans are in the playoffs this year is because OKC's 3 best players missed 15+ games apiece, and their best player and reigning MVP missed 55 games?

Granted, I think you could argue if Holiday and Anderson hadn't missed so many games, the Pelicans might've won enough games to finish ahead of the Mavs 50-32 record, but still.

As for the "mediocre" or "meh" supporting cast, the Pelicans actually have a pretty good roster when healthy. Hell, even when Davis and Jrue were out at the same time for a few weeks the Pelicans won like 5 or 6 games in a row. That was likely the defining stretch of their season, because they had a good chance to fall apart and really fall out of the playoff picture, but instead they go on a short win streak and stay within striking distance of a playoff spot.

The whole "empty stats" crap is nonsense, anyway. Love was a damn good player as the lead dog in Minny. Davis at just 22 years old, however, is already better than Love ever was. When he peaks, it's going to be scary.

The Wolves went 39-38 with Love last year.

This year with the dynamic duo of Lavine-Wiggins... 16-66.

Davis is more efficient than Love and is WAY better a defense.

Difference between Klove and AD is that AD is a big man that plays like a big man. There's a reason why teams with bigs that score primarily through jump shots have never won (yes dirk is the exception but the had quality bigs). The inside out game works and works well against the zone as it leaves the guards vulnerable against slashers or the baseline.

1) Pels roster >> Wolves
2) With OKC healthy they will be out of playoffs too.

What was the Pelicans win percentage without Davis this season, I thought they won 5 in a row without davis, and a 8-2 run or something?

The Wolves went 39-38 with Love last year, and in the 5 games he missed, they went 1-4.

That 1-4 record is pretty much the same W-L percentage this year with Lavine-Wiggins... 16-66.

In fact, in the games Lavine started, the Wolves went 4-36 with a -12 ppg differential. They at least went 12-30 in the games in which he did not start.

Love was a KEY loss.

More talent on this year's roster.

BTW, last night was a typical Lavine game. His fans will say, look, 19 pts and 13 asts. Of course, they will ignore the fact that he scored 11 of his points, and had seven of his assists after his team was down 93-65. Or the fact that he made Westbrook and Waiters, two of the most inefficient shooters in the league, look like MJ in his prime.

Love was FAR more valuable to the Wolves last year, than the Wiggins-Lavine tandem were to this year's team.

1- you are wrong
2-most of the NBA level guys (Pek, Rubio, Brewer, Young etc.) barely played or were traded.

disingenuous arguments are still disingenuous...

AD is better but his supporting cast is a lot better than the TWolves ever was around Love. I know Jrue didn't play much, but Tyreke stepped up big time in his absence as the PG. Eric Gordon, I know everyone likes to kill him but he's no scrub. He had the backbreaking shots for the Pelicans last night. Ryan Anderson is a good stretch 4 and Asik is a great defender. I don't recall anyone as good on the TWolves with Love like these guys. Rubio is pretty good but he's not better than any of these guys.

At the end of February the Pels were a distant 10 seed and Davis went out for 5 games. The Pels went 4-1 and went into 9th and closed the gap. Without that stretch they aren't even close to be in position to get here.

Jrue, Asik, Gordon, Reke is a FAR better supporting cast than they are given credit for. I just hope Jrue can get through the playoffs. They are a much better team with him around.

Oh yes...after all Lavine has been brilliant in leading this team to a 4-36 record (and most of those were blowout losses.)

Again, if your team is down by 30 points, and playing against scrubs in garbage time, Lavine will shine.
