note: i dislike kobe's style, it is inefficient, greedy and can't work without great big men.

That being said, I'm taking kobe without even blinking. I've been watching basketball since the late 80s/ early 90s and i have NEVER seen anybody do what kobe was doing back then. it's a testament to kobe's ridiculous talent that he didn't shoot in the 30s. Some of these shots were harder then HORSE shots ffs. He just went on those insane rolls where he was hitting crazy shit, I used to watch all his games even if I disliked him as a person, his game was :wtf: :applause:

kobe's 81 is the greatest scoring game in the history of basketball. His team needed him to score, and he went against a legit NBA team in a competitive game, not some circus amateur league shit like wilt's 100 (sorry laz, it's the truth).

Kobe was much greater season over Durant especially if you factor in defense. Durant got locked down at times while Kobe didn't when he was double and triple teamed he was in the zone that year unguardble and unstoppable. The stuff he did that year scoring wise only ranks right up their with Wilt and Jordan best seasons.

TS don't mean shit without context. Harden's TS is enormous but his game is almost fraudulent, chucking threes and living at the line because the refs suck dick. Against a good defensive team that will gameplan for him, if whistled properly, he will look pedestrian.

The pressure kobe put on defenses in 2006 was just insane, and it can't just be quantified by TS, because he was being doubled/tripled all the time and he still shot it, because he had an absolutely putrid roster. He also gave the STACKED suns a HUGE scare. Durant wouldn't even come close to that result with that lakers roster. As a scorer durant can't touch kobe's creativity, ball handling and slashing, and they are really close in shooting skills so it's not like durant has a big advantage there (durant better spot up shooter, kobe better off the dribble).

imo 2006 kobe is a full tier above any durant. A difference like MJ > drexler.

I think comparing Durant to Tmac is the better comparison.

28 shots went in that game.
17 out of 28 shots were heavily constested jumpers
5 out 28 came from kobe's penetration
2 out 28 came from defensive breakdowns
4 out 28 came out of triangle plays.

that means he did it against very good defense that night, just watch the video, the number of contested shots going in was just :wtf:

Lol...Kev's scoring ability is getting underrated.

4 scoring titles....first player to average 32 ppg on 50% shooting in decades....put up a 28 ppg season on a 50/40/90.

Durant's one of the best scorers ever...and he's only 26.

And back to topic, Kobe by far.

Kobe's 06 season made it clear to all that there could be someone who could score better than MJ.

MJ was untouchable in terms of scoring before Kobe came along. Kobe's 06 season showed the world that it was possible (when he was at his absolute peak and on a hot streak) to outshine MJ.

MJ's 86-87 season was incredible

Scored 50+ 8 times. Averaged 40 the first month. Scored 40+ 37 times

Kobe scored 50+ 6 times and 40+ 27 times.

MJ is still untouchable in terms of scoring. Peak MJ > Peak Kobe.

MJ's stats with the Bulls: 38.6 MPG, .505/.332/.838 shooting line, 31.5 PPG, 5.4 AST, 6.3 RPG, 2.5 SPG, 0.9 BPG.

Ok.

Jordan has scored 40+ 38 times in 179 playoff games. That's 21% of the time.

Kobe has scored 40+ 11 times in 220 playoff games (200 if you count only starts). That's 6% of the time.

Jordan has scored 50 or more 8 times in the playoffs. Kobe just once.

And this is against actual competition.

I know you don't ACTUALLY think Kobe > Jordan, but I still had to do this :lol
