View Full Version : Lakers can't even tank properly

Look. I hate tanking. I think it's bad for morale, chemistry, fans and reputation. And even moreso for a storied franchise like the Lakers.

That being said, if you're gonna tank, then do it! Lakers just beat Minny on last second free throws in OT after so obviously tanking for most of the game.

This team is a ****ing mess. I wish I could hit the reset button.

oh the horror

The lakers are mess at the moment. Again I'm a bit unsure of their general direction. Fans believe they theyll simply swing for a homer and sign another guy because they're "the lakers". The reality is a big name does need some incentive to come play for a team. What are the attractive pieces right now?

Unproven Randle? clarkson? Oooookay

Don't blame the Lakers. Blame Zach LaVine.

He was the only one on the court who knew what was at stake and willed the T-Wolves to a loss down the stretch.

Back to back plays so stupid that they had to be corrupt.

This game definitely fell into the "somebody has to win" category.. it was ugly

Actually nice to see some grit from the Lakers, blew a huge lead but Coach P left them in to fight back, good experience for next year

And hey OP how come when they win you're talking about how great Lin was, posting his numbers and everything else, when they lose and Lin sits out you're hammering on Scott for keeping Lin sidelined and talking about how the Lakers could hve won if only Lin had played or use differently but when he's benched for the entire 4th quarter and overtime and they win suddenly they can't tank properly :lol

This. The icing on the cluster **** cake would be if the Lakers lose their pick to the Sixers. Then we'll have to go through another season of tanking. Little assets, No superstars, I don't think management realizes how toxic a personal loser is to superstars.

I hope they lose the pick so it forces that retard who signs check to get actual nba players on the team

They were (possibly still are) in a position to better themselves for next season. Keeping the pick, healthy Randle and actually signing some NBA players and shitcan most of the current roster...

But no, same as last year these fu*king idiots are winning meaningless games towards the end and screwing there chances at keeping the pick:facepalm :facepalm :facepalm :facepalm

The players don't care if they get the pick or not. A lot of them are on minimal deals playing for contracts and exposure

You got me confused with someone else. I barely made a peep when he went off against Philly...cuz it was Philly.

Yeah, I went off on BS early in the season...but I eventually gave up when it was obvious that this season was pretty much a waste for the Lakers with all the lineup changes every other week.

Tanking is pathetic. I hate it. But, there's nothing worse than blatantly trying to tank and coming up short. Pressey should have had Sacre running point and Ellington posting up down low.

And LOL at calling me a LOF. I've been a Laker fan since before most of you kids were even born. I grew up in LA. One of the saddest memories I have as a kid was when Magic pulled his hamstring. And then when he retired. Of course, none of you guys probably even know what I'm talking about, but I guess you can go youtube it.

Lin and Sacre were repeatedly telling the media that they don't care about what's going on with the Lakers, that getting a pick is not their problem. Lin specifically stating that he doesn't care what happens to the Lakers. Which makes me glad to hear because it's basically an admittance that he knows he won't be returning next season to the Lakers. :applause:

Exactly... These guys have pride, they're not going to brick shots and throw the ball out of bounds.. these guys are playing for their livelyhood... most will be free agents, they want to show the league and Lakers FO that they are worthy of a long term contract next summer

All these folks expecting them to throw the game, or for the coaching staff to install the mentality of losing into these guys are just idiots...

If winning means developing Clarkson, I'm down with that. He needs all the experience he can get. Its just such a shame that Randle couldn't take advantage of playing this year as well. Hope he takes a page out of Blake Griffins book and comes back strong in his sophomore year.

Signing Shaq happened a long time ago. The Cba has changed dramatically, the NBA landscape has changed and the men tali of free agents has changed. I have not found one person that can explain why a superstar free agent would take less money to come to a worse team than the one he's currently playing for.

Randle was tough, like you say he needed that experience this year, obviously Kobe going down again created a host of problems as well a Nash not being able to get it together but that happens...

there's been some silver linings this season, Clarkson has improved ten fold, certainly far beyond what I thought he would, Tariq Black looks like he could develop into something that could play a major role on the team, Davis looks good... we've got some guys who with a little experience are going to be solid NBA players, role players but still you need those too.. Wesley Johnson has show some talent, he just needs to slow down his game, the kids got the volume turned up full all the time

I think Scott and the staff have done a good job of keeping these guys focused and not letting them hang their heads.. they may not be good but they come to play and they fight

I always cheer for the other team when Lakers is playing but reality is: We aren't tanking the right way for the second straight season.
Knicks shut down Carmelo and Calderon, traded JR and Shumpert. They're basically playing with Bargs, young guys and D Leaguers.
Wolves are pretending everyone is injured, playing 8 guys a game.
Sixers traded away everyone for picks, playing with only young guys.

Now the Lakers office again didn't make what they should do witch was trade everyone for pennies, play the scrubs and young players, now Magic is coming closer as we speak and the chance Lakers lose the pick is real now.

Exactly, thats why Minny started 3 rookies and 2 scrubs, while resting any veteran who could have won the game.

Do you remember that laker squad when Shaq came? They had some nice pieces dude. Right now 90 percent of the roster is fodder.

They have to start somewhere to create a roster that's at least attractive on some level other than being a "destination" because that selling point isn't enough anymore for a lot of guys.

Having history isn't a selling point when your roster is garbage. I'm very curious about their offseason moves because so far they've acquired little to no assets.
