In order to get really good answers I'd have to look up things like "who had the most points with the fewest assists," but at the moment the one season that really stands out for me is Iverson averaging 31.4 points on a .398 FG%.

From an old topic of mine on Rick barry:

He scored like 38 a game in college...and came into the NBA and put up 26 and 36ppg his first two years. Shot 29 times a game. If you think thats an era thing everyone did...oscar robertson was second with 21.5. Exactly the same as Kobe in 2012. So Barry was out ahead of his peers.

Then went to the ABa and put up 34ppg....but lets put that aside for now.

Im gonna go back to his 36ppg last NBA season before leaving for a moment.

Chucking or not he led a great team...and he took 33 shots a game in the 67 playoffs.

In the finals it got out of hand...

He went 3-16...in the FIRST QUARTER of his first finals game.

Finished that game 15-43

Had 37/8/7.

Game 2 he went 10-28 and they lost by 30 as he scored 30 points.

Game 3 is where the shit hit the fan....

Since shooting a lot wasnt working Barry decided to shoot...a whole ****ing lot.

So he comes out and drops 17 in the first quarter on 17 shot attempts. finishes the game with 55 points on 22-48 shooting with 19FTA. but in an odd turn...the best FT shooter ever only went 11 of 19. He should have the playoff scoring record really. Anyway....they won. Validating his evil ways.

So next game he has what...if the legends are true...may be the most selfish game in history.

Barry in game 4 got 59 touches.

He took 43 shots.

Had 5 assists.

Several turnovers on fouls...

And supposedly only passed the ball 11 times.

On 59 touches. he passed it back to someone 11 times. 5 of those were assists to a no doubt wide open teammate demanding the ball.

Anyway he had 41 points on 43 shots.

You see how this is going. Over the next/final two games he took 75 shots. Scored 80 points.

Ignoring for a moment how destroyed he would be by modern fans for that performance....

Imagine the balls you need to come take 48 shots. Probably no less than 35-38 straight up long jumpers. If you watch the video you see hes not getting gimmes. hes wetting jumper after jumper from 15-20 feet.

The game he passed 11 of 59 touches would be a marvel to behold.

To his credit...clearly someone was ok with it. They rode him all year and pushed him t othe limit when they got there.

Which season of his would you consider chucking? He's averaged 5+ assists each year in houston hasn't he and played off the bench in OKC and didn't take too many shots. Plus his carried the scoring load on a rockets team that's won more than they've lost. Sure he flops and it's not much fun to watch him but your post is stupid.

Larry Hughes had some horrible chucking years didn't he? I seem to recall him having a few season of around 15-25pts on 38% shooting or some such.

Westbrook's all-time chucking record pace was put to an end with that hand injury. The world will never know just how much Chuckbrook would chuck if a Chuckbrook could chuck good.

Stackhouse's most obvious year is 2000-2001, where he averaged 29.8 points on a .402 FG%. He had years where his FG% was even worse, but in this year he shot more than 24 field goals a game.

Hughes did have several years under .400 but never took more than 17 shots a game in any of them.

Another guy who just took awful shots all the time was Antoine Walker, who had a lifetime 3-point % of only .325 but still had seasons where he averaged 7-8 attempts per game. He actually made two consecutive all-star games in years where his overall FG% was under .400. He was a good passer and rebounder, but as a shooter he was really an unpleasant player to watch.

Adam Morrison's rookie year was also a sad spectacle, but he only took 12 shots a game to achieve his .376 FG%.

It's hard to put old-time players in context, but Bob Cousy did have years where he was in the .350s and scored almost 20 points per game. Then again, he led the league in assists each of those years, so it's hard to call him a "chucker." Havlicek is another Celtic who had some low FG% years, but there's something about the way those Celtics played, and the massive number of offensive rebounds they got that makes it almost make sense. He once claimed that he had his shot blocked more than anyone in NBA history, and he was proud of it--he felt it wasn't a bad thing because almost every time his team retained possession anyway, and I think he has a point there.

Of course, it's always worth looking through this below list carefully. Too bad the site doesn't list full stats for each of them to make it easier.

I've never heard of the guy until I saw this list, but that Bob Verga guy is a pretty good candidate. I'm also amused to see John Brisker on the list, though he scored almost 30 points a game that season.
