Milbuck
08-18-2014, 12:37 AM
Those are some serious exaggerations...Melo a 96? Really? CP3 98..?

Don't know if Lebron should be a near perfect rating with the defensive lapses he showed this season. Imo the only players in the modern era that are clear-cut 99s are prime MJ and 3-peat Shaq..if this was 2012 or part of 2013, I'd have Lebron as a 99, he was a monster on both ends of the floor. But not after this past year.

Lebron trimming down and KD improving further could mean we might have 2 99s later on though. IIRC Kobe started as a 98 a few years before they bumped him up to 99 like midway through the season.

Projecting into 2015, where I think the players should/will be:

Lebron: 98
Durant: 98
Westbrook: 95
CP3: 94
Davis: 94
Blake: 94
Melo: 93
Rose: 93 (could be a 95 with WB if he's back to MVP form and then some)
Curry: 93
Love: 91
Aldridge: 91

And so on..

Not so much they fail to realize, they just want to be mad at a video game.
Personally I can see how Paul or Westbrook could even be 99... where exactly are their weaknesses? It's just a few big man categories.

Um Paul isnt a great rebounder.

Westbrook shoots 44% from the field and 31% from 3pt range. Thats a pretty big weakness.

the system is flawed anyway

it's per position

there's no way CP can average 98 being that small, he can't reb, post, nor block.

And Melo lol, they lowered the impact of mental attributes to your overall rating or something

Btw, there's no way us PC gamers get anything close to the PS4 version right? No new career mode no nothing, right?

Love and Anthony Davis should be at least 95 they are both unstoppable in Nba 2K14 by the way my online head to head record is about (160-50)

Teams I use in the game

1. Grizzlies (Best overall team) that defense is crazy. I love playing with Conley at the point. Marc Gasol is the best post defender in the game by the way.

2. Pelicans (Jrue Holiday & AD + Ryan Anderson's shooting

3. Warriors, after a terrible loss, what better way for a revenge but to play with the splash brothers? Deadly shooters.
Stephen Curry should be 97 if Paul is 98 wtf

Honestly, even that is too high...

Imagine we have like a game with all the greats, and a Dirk is like, top 15, so maybe, a 94? Carmelo and Westbrook just 3 below?

MJ/Kareem 99.... Just 8 above CARMELO?

Greats in the 20's-30's, Baylor/Havlicek/Drexler/Stockton/Ewing, those guys should reasonably be in the high 80's and low 90's IMO..

I like how people get visibly upset over a fake report with no source cited.

I really wish 2K ranked the players a la Fifa, with Ronaldo/Messi around the 90 mark.

99 just seems silly and "maxed out" when even Bran and Durant have obvious flaws. I get that it doesn't mean they have 99 in every rating, but it gives no indication of how far off they are.

Forgot to add that it's 100% certainly fake because 2K make a HUGE deal of releasing these ratings every year. Ronnie2k also posted something about them discussing ratings at the office like 2 days ago

Right, a 99 player would be something like: Yao Mings hight+ Rose quickness+ MJ Midrange finish at the rim and killer instinct+ currys 3 ball+ shaq power in the post etc.

No player should be rated 99

2K ratings are done by quantifiable stats and position, they don't count subjective stuff like intangibles, BB IQ, leadership qualities, etc. It's mostly combination of basketball skills and physical attributes.

So someone such as Lebron who is maxed out on physical stats like speed/strength/agility/durability/vertical, is one of the best defenders/rebounders at his position, and the best passer/scorer he will be a 99. He has no weaknesses in his game as far as objective stats go.

Durant is same story as Lebron, except he is slightly worse defender and passer, but his scoring advantage outweighs the minor weaknesses. So he can be rated high.

Westbrook is basically a smaller slightly worse version of Lebron, his "weaknesses" can't be quantified since they are shit like shot selection, patience and awareness. His actual talent/body combination is perfect, you put Jerry West in Westbrook's body and that would be the GOAT PG. So he can be rated that high, 2K doesn't take into account the mind of a player. That's why ****ing JR Smith/Shumpert were like 80+ in 2k13 just off "potential".

Paul is basically a perfect PG with no weaknesses, his only issues are passiveness and deferring attitude at times, which again can't be put into stats. And since he is a PG rebounding and other big man crap isn't taken into account by the 2k developers.

Now Melo is a real head scratcher and the reason why I think this is fake. His physical talents are nothing exceptional for his position, he has a scoring skillset but isn't as dominant or efficient as Lebron or Durant, and his passing/defense is nothing special either. He is like a 90 at best based on the 2k stats.

It's even dumber when you consider ratings from the past..there's just zero consistency with this stuff.

- 2011 MVP Rose was rated a 92....and current Chris Paul is a 98..?

- Melo in 2013 put up 29/7/3/1/1 on 56% TS, the Knicks won 54 games and made the 2nd round...he was a 91. And now just one year later his stats regress, his team sucks hard ass, and he's rated 5 points better?

- Westbrook is both underrated and overrated..after what he did in the playoffs, there is no reason whatsoever for CP3 being ahead of him. But there is also no reason why Westbrook should be a 97..that's what prime Hakeem was rated in 2k13, and higher than Shaq, Magic, Bird, Zeke and Oscar :oldlol:

In the game?

When we go through and pick teams of any players ever, my point guard is always Patrick Beverley. He can guard anyone and steals everything and hits 3s as a 73 overall. You'll see him lock down Gary Peyton and Allen Iverson easily.

Ratings in 2k really don't matter.

2k has been a pile of shit for 2 years, so that game in general doesn't really matter.

They are still adding stuff to the older gen consoles that they won't also add to the newer gen ones, and this is for 2k15 :lol

Not to mention that micro-transactions have completely RUINED the game. In GM mode you can't even hire a new coach, change your player rotation, or scout draft prospects without spending virtual currency first....

And the actual gameplay sucks as well. Defense is horrible and the ball handling is non-interruptible which takes you completely out of control. If you go to do a dribble move but see an open man and want to pass, you have to wait until he finishes the dribble animation which screws you so hard so often.

And the career mode is basically all played out for you. They designate games where, regardless of what shots you take, you will only shoot 20%, so they can play a special cutscene afterwards and force you to practice shooting.

It's a shitty ass game and I don't know how any one over the age of 12 could enjoy it.

Yup. It really matters how their strengths and weaknesses interact. The ratings are based on the simulations so the stats come out close when you Sim seasons. Some low rating players can be great in the hands of a human player. Lamar Odom comes to mind from past games. I've never lost a 3v3 blacktop game with Odom on my team.

I always choose Roddy Beaubois as my PG. Stupid easy jumper, fast as ****, dunks everything near the rim, and defense in this game is really mostly dependent on the user's ability rather than ratings.

Have you ever tried passing in the middle of a crossover or when the ball is out of your hand dribbling? Kinda...impossible.

Idk, I like 2k14 and I never have problems with my career. I just try and recreate Charles barkley every year basically. Playing point got boring in 2k11 for me. Too easy to win because no matter the difficulty the computer is dumb and the defense is easy to break down for dimes.

You're right perimeter defense around 85 but everything else 90+

If LeBron is 85 then other superstars would be like in the 70's :hammerhead:

wouldnt make sense

nah. defense should be 25 (negative impact).

put any all-star on the heat from 2011-2014 and they win two rings- every player in nba history wins in 2011 and 2013 heat were so stacked. prime wade, bosh, pat, coach of the decade spo, 80 % shooting birdman, clutchest player ever.

Lebron, Durant, Paul and Westbrook are probably the 4 above 90. It's gotta be players that are great on both offense and defense. They also need to have either elite athleticism or skills. Those guys are the only candidates.

i really don't care what kobes rating is in 2k... the lakers suck so much as a team. kobe could be a 99 and i still would rather be the warriors, thunder, pacers etc...

you gotta pick a great team to have any chance online. theres a ton of double teaming online and you need role players who can knock down threes

and rebounding is a must. i remember being the lakers online a few times and there were possessions when the other guy missed 8 straight shots but got all 8 offensive rebounds and finally scored

it was hell

Apparently there are no 99's in the game wtf??!!

That means LeBron's ratings confirmed dropped :facepalm :banghead: :hammerhead:

Well the Heat did lose the Finals in Lebron's last year. that alone is a good enough reason for a ratings drop.

in 2k14 I use the Cavs almost every time and have a record of about 170 wins and 70 losses (forgot my exact record cause its been a while) Its more about being good with the team your using than using a good team. I love playing people who use team like the Heat against me.

I'm on 360 otherwise I'd be down. And I'm not trying to say I ALWAYS beat the good teams but I do more often than not.

Edit: I guess my point is just that you don't have to pick a good team to be competitive. Wasn't trying to say I'm better than you or anything. Although I probably would win.

Only 4 players are over 90.

2k had a massive ratings overhaul.

Durant is a 95. Confirmed.

My guess is Lebron, Westbrook, CP3 are the other 3 even though I don't think CP3 is worthy.

Good. Hopefully there's separation between great players and the truly all-time GOATs too.

Also hate it when they do roster updates, and improve the ratings of some players, but don't reduce ratings on the ones playing poorly. Billups was like a 81 on 2K14.

Yeah it had nothing to do with them losing their coach, starting center, back up center, their sixth man, and Varejo playing 40 less games due to injury.

nope the only difference between the 2010 Cavs and the 2011 Cavs is Lebron

Coach - Mike Brown (as a Lakers fan I'm sure you can attest to his basketball genius)
Starting Centre - old ass Shaq (played half a season in Boston then retired)
Backup Centre - old ass Ilgauskas (played 1? season in Miami)
I don't even know who their 6th man was it's that irrelevant (Jamario Moon?)
Varejao must average 40 games a season for his career. Plus he's basically an 8/8 player for his career

the system is flawed anyway

it's per position

there's no way CP can average 98 being that small, he can't reb, post, nor block.

And Melo lol, they lowered the impact of mental attributes to your overall rating or something

Btw, there's no way us PC gamers get anything close to the PS4 version right? No new career mode no nothing, right?Ratings are weighted, for example: 3 point shooting rating will affect a shooting guard's overall rating more than a centers, whereas rebounding and blocking will affect a center's ratings more. Try making cp3 7 feet and switch him to center without touching his ratings on the current game.

Real14

Your team should rate a 48:coleman:

-6th man was Delonte west who was actually a really good player just kind of crazy

-Verajao has probably averaged less than 40 games since LeBron left, he didn't miss very many while he was here. And Verajao was a near allstar Caliber player just a couple season ago. Even if he wasn't as good early in his career he improved later on as most big men do.

-Illgauskas might have only played 1 season after that but he wasn't exactly irrelevant on the Cavs.

-Mo Williams, the Cavs second best player got traded near the deadline the season after LeBron left. Pretty sure jj Hickson did too.

-The only good points you made here were that Shaq and Mike Brown sucked.
