I was thinking of a big man, all the coaches and analysts say that height can't be taught. It can even be a really bad big man in comparison to the rest of the league. Teams need rebounds, especially nowadays with more and more stretch 4's.

Bigger/longer passing point guards that are tough.

Big men are more likely to have foot/leg problems that end their careers early, but if they don't have such pain or injury issues, their size and lack of need to chase people on the perimeter seem to allow them to be effective at an older age.

"Locker room guys"?

Jared Jeffries and Derek Fisher for example lasted in the league longer than they should have. Both are known as being positive influence on younger players.

Do well enough to make the final cut before opening night, get paid the vet min, and talk talk talk like you're a motivational speaker

7 footers don't necessarily stay in the league "longer" in the absolute, but some of them stay much longer than you would have anticipated given their actual production.

There is no type. Just players that are able to adjust their game and keep their body in shape.

players that have a good reputation amongst players can't hurt their chances.

Big men who rebound & play defense (Mutombo, Camby, etc)

And point guards who play team ball, and bring good leadership (Derek Fisher, Jason Kidd, Steve Nash, etc.)

Shooters, bigs if they can stay healthy, locker room guys, and hard working roleplayers who have played on championship teams.

Actor/Flopper are great momentum stoppers. They stick in the viewers mind and get two extra contracts because of it.

Guy with a lot of Tats on. With foul shots extending beyond 15 seconds these precious billboards do a lot for TV contracts.

11th man on the bench. Nothing better than seeing a guy come into the game and not really recalling who he was but you seen him for like - forever.

European players, like 3 point specialist, come into the league, hit an early peak and don't get better or worse for 12 years.

Be a project. Develop late. Then take growth hormones at 22 years of age and gain 2 feet on your range for a couple of years. People will talk of your ceiling 3 contracts deep.
