View Full Version : Why are people overrating the Spurs offense...

Nobody was praising them when Kobe and the Lakers destroyed them.

Don't overrate them because Miami can't do anything to stop them.

It is actually impressive for the Lakers to beat them with two 7 footers in a league that was transitioning to small ball and a faster pace. This is where I think Kobe should get more credit for leading a 2 slow footed 7 footers to two championships in an era of small ball.

The Spurs offense was completley reinvented from 2011 onward.

The basic of the spurs offense prior to that was passing the ball into Timmy on the block

They have been running the same shit for years.

For example this is going back to 2003 against the Lakers....

Simple dribble drive and kick. They have always done it but they do it at a faster pace. Instead of the kick to the open guy, the open guy now drives and kicks to another.

huh? i thought it was basic knowledge amongst non-casual basketball fans that their play style is drastically different.

overestimation, i guess...

Do you even watch basketball?

You're comparing this team to the Spurs team 6 years ago that featured guys like old Brent Barry, old Michael Finley, old Robert Horry, old Bruce Bowen as the main role players.

leonard alone makes up for duncan's decline. this kid will be a future perennial all-star. not to mention all of the other unsung role-players

You are comparing old Parker, Duncan and Manu to prime ones that were doing the same shit then.

OP is trolling, but yes, okc nearly beat em with injured ibaka, and completely slaughtered em with harden in 2012

you need a great man to man defender to stop em (in this case OKC has goatbrook)

This x10. 9erempiree is either trolling or he literally has no f*cking clue what he's talking about. As you said the Spurs totally reinvented their offense around 2011 to push the ball more and don't let it stick. Before 2011 they were known as a boring as team to watch offensively.

I can't believe 9erempiree went back and compared this team to a team that is literally a decade old.

That was an example to show the Spurs have been running the same system for years.

I can bring up later versions that the Lakers beat too.

So Parker, Duncan and Manu are a decade old back in the days?

Ok.:facepalm

Boring team to watch? I never thought they were boring. Only casual fans would say that. Basketball aficionados like myself never thought they were boring and you want to say I have no clue?

The two teams are a decade apart from each other. It still doesn't change the fact that you made a stupid ass thread about overrating an offense when they had a completely different offense ran back then vs. the Lakers.

because equal opportunity offense when being made becomes overrated.

at least we KNOW it isn't equal opportunity defense for the Spurs.

This. OP has proven himself thoroughly ignorant when it comes to basketball.

Green, Leonard, Mills, and Diaw have all had a huge impact on the offensive end this series, and none of them played for SA when Kobe 'murked' them or whatever.

I'd have to disagree bro. I even seen adjustments from game one.

But they have been about kick outs, I guess it's alot more obvious when the whole team is draining shots. Even Parker is nailing 3's. But this team does have way more movement

Kobe was destroying this team for years. Lebron can't do it, so it is great opportunity to overrate them.

9erempire is just an insecure and lonely kid who abuses the opportunity to express himself that the internet provides, the opportunity that he can't get in real life. Sadly this is all to our detriment, those of us who actually enjoy basketball and enjoy discussing with like-minded people.
