Who doesn't belong in an INDIVIDUALLY ranked system known as the "top 10" from this list? Surely if we are talking about team accomplishments as well, then surely Bill Russell is the GOAT by a land slide. 8 in a row and 11 total. How can you possibly argue against that? But, since we aren't comparing teams (Lakers vs Heat vs Bulls vs Spurs) but rather the PLAYER (Kobe vs Bron vs Jordan vs Duncan) I think it's safe to say we know who to leave off the list.

Lebron would trade all 4 MVP's for the ring this year. Ask him.

I assume Shaq also doesn't belong in the conversation with LeBron and Duncan right???

Kobe ranks all-time where Melo ranks in the current league.

i.e. A lot lower than the average fan realizes.

Never thought I'd see people dumb enough to compare individual players by team accomplishments. Or did you want to compare Finals MVPs? Then we have:

MJ 6
Shaq 3
Duncan 3
LBJ 2
Kobe 2

Is that a better measure of individual success?

You can't really give Kobe credit for Shaq's 3-peat like you can give Kobe credit for his own back-to-back. And even if you do give him credit for his back to back, you have to remember his 6 for 24 game and Pau averaging 18/11 on 50% + in the playoffs. I'm curious to see how many other people that won an NBA Finals ever had their #2 option putting up 18/11 on 50% + I think someone should do the research because I am sure you'll find that it's quite rare

Pau was even better than I thought...

His averages throughout the playoffs as a second option:

2009 - 18/11 on 58% with 2 blocks per game!
2010 - 20/11 on 54% with 2 blocks per game!

How many other players that won an NBA Finals had the luxury of having a guy putting up 20/11 on 54% with 2 blocks per game throughout the playoffs? I guarantee you won't find hardly any. I don't even know if you will find one other player.

To lose a finals, you have to win 3 rounds first. Not winning 3 rounds isn't some special accomplishment.

The reason why Shaq doesn't have more is because he missed so many games every season. Except the one he won it.

Your goal is to win the championship not MVPs. So only betas like bran, wilt, robertson go for it. Im sure MJ never cared about the MVPs, but too bad hes winning every year so they are forced to give him the MVPs. Meanwhile bran go for stats to fool idiots like you to vote for him with those MVPs. And once bran got exposed, he decided to go to Miami coz thats the only way he could fool idiots again into voting him if he wins a ring. So stay mad idiot:oldlol:

Don't be bitter Pippen was never a legit MVP in one season, let alone multiple. Always riding coat tails must be tough.

MJ should've had:

1989
1990
1993
1997

My mistake, he should've had 9 MVPs.

Kobe should've had:

2006
2007

They do for the best record, the best stats, and kicking a*s in the final head-to-head matchup.

You're right, they give them for being the most valuable player in the NBA, which Kobe was. Chris "I'll get out of the second round someday, I swear" Paul finished a just 2nd in the vote.

Regular season award, 28.3 ppg, .459 shooting is nothing special.

Kobe with Bynum = 1 seed

Kobe without Bynum = 33.9 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 5.5 apg 51% shooting.

Kobe with Pau = 1 seed (27-9)

Im not sure how you came to that conclusion.... but first of all there is no such thing as an all-time list, not officially, it all is personal from fan to fan which all is formed based on whatever criterias that fan goes after (with a hint of bias at times)..... But anyways, in mine, when evaluating an INDIVIDUAL's greatness based on the highest TEAM ACCOMPLISHMENT (championship) context is then extremly important.... the only time context would not matter so much or maybe not at all, where significancy of every single championship would mean equal greatness to all/any individual players would be if this was a game like tennis... a 1vs1 game.... where a single guy is always responsible for a win or a loss, where the best PLAYER always wins... and not the best TEAM.... hence you can then truly use championships as numbers, the more the better, then you can very accurately rank players....
