If they aint beating the Spurs this year, no way they do it in later years. Not mentioning the Thunder and even the Clippers are getting better with time, so even after Duncan and Manu retire they will not stand a chance with their current old squad. Do you think they should blow it up and rebuild? If their big three all opt out they actually will not have any long and huge contracts left. Lebron may go to the Cavs, Bosh may return to the Raptors, and Wade should retire. The Heat can tank two straight years to get Jahil Okafor and another superstar prospect in 2016, unless they've traded away their future picks it may not take long to rebuild.

They don't have a choice if Bosh, Wade and Lebron all decide to keep their options for the next two years. They're over the cap right from the get go with just five players under contract. They have diddlysquat to offer outside of a tax payer's mid level, some vet minimum deals and rookie contracts.

Neither Wade nor Bosh is getting another max contract, so this is it for them...their last big contract. Its all downhill from here as far as money goes, so who gives a f*ck about rings? They've already got rings. They've got nothing left to prove...so chances are high that they're going to get paid.

They need to feature Bosh more than wade. You still have a capable 20 10 big man who shoots nothing but 3's.

Wade has shown to be a very solid player still but he's def no 2nd option.

If he took a pay cut to 13 million, I'd keep him while drafting the best available SG or Center.

They should rebuild around Cleanthony Early.

Its not like hes that much better either. Wade should retire after this season, hes clearly done. Bosh can hope to get a max contract somewhere else, hes still balling and needs more touches and higher roles to be effective. Lebron may as well go back to the Cavs, if they do a sign & trade the Heat can get some young players back and ready to rebuild.

This is one of the best teams in recent memory. Even if they lose, this is a team that has made 4 Finals in a row and won 2 titles. That's a fantastic run of success.

"Blowing it up" should be the last thing on their mind if they can afford to keep their core together and not have to go with a bare bones team around them. If the finances allow it, bring back the same team and at worst they enjoy another Conference Title appearance.

Well they are clearly not beating the Spurs again if they cant do it this time. If they are satisfied with winning the East and selling tickets, they may stick with this squad but if they want to win more than the Eastern Conference, it is time to blow it up and rebuild. Get Okafor in 2015 and Rabb in 2016, and then try to sign a superstar guard to play with them, its not that difficult and may take no more than 3-4 years.

Considering they make the Finals again next year no.. They just need to make moves to get younger.

But the one and only way for them to get younger is to blow up the current squad.

No it's not

Big 3 taking less will create cap space.

I heard Stat and Melo are going to opt out and take less money, Knicks about to be the team with more cap space in the NBA...

Riley is gonna need to convince wade to retire if they want to retool the Lebron era heat. As long as you have Lebron they are contenders. Keep bosh and Lebron (if you can) and go after a third star. We all know the kind of mentality lebron has though. Will he stick it out now that the going is tough and the future in Miami isn't looking so bright? Doubt it.

I think this becomes a serious discussion now, its all over for Miami Heat's 3-peat talk, they aint good enough to win this year and you cant expect them to win next year either as the Spurs are only getting better.

Haha, Jahili Okafor is the answer? He looks and plays like Jared Sullinger, he ain't no Tim Duncan if that's where you have him projected. The Miami Cavaliers need a new game-plan since their offense is so damn predictable. If Miami wants to keep Lebron, they need to personally ask him who he prefers to play with because Bosh and Wade are Trash.... keep them at a discount or get rid of them.

I think they pay Wade (but dont extend) and transition him to 6th man. Trade Bosh for Kevin Love, get a serviceable Center and Point guard... maybe ... I have no freaking clue man. Thebelosha? LOL :lol

LOL, does anyone think any of the fans from the last few years would stick around until 2016?

Note: I use the term 'fan' loosely when referencing Miami Heat.

Why do they care? Teams tank many times, tanking teams dont care about if old fans stick around, and when they turn the table new fans will come in.

Wade's trade value is lower. Miami Heat will be back in the finals again next year. They just need a younger role players.

The answer is no. The reason is staring is in the face from this NBA finals.

Should the Spurs have blown it up after this lost to Phoenix in 4 games? Should they have blown it up after being upset by Memphis in round 1? Should they have blown it up when they got backdoor swept by OKC? No. They should stay calm and retool. They made four straight NBA finals, winning two and have still, an incredible core. They need to recharge their batteries this offseason, make a few shrewd moves to acquire players that fit their system, assess what changes they can make in their play and be ready for another run next year.

People always want to 'blow it up' every time there is a disappointment. In reality, a few intelligent changes can make all the difference in the world.
