View Full Version : Miami To Have MOST Cap Space In NBA???

NumberSix

I just heard on the radio that if the big 3 opt out and re-sign with a small paycut in addition to the other players coming off the books, the Heat will have the most cap space in the NBA this off-season.

This Melo thing is looking like it could really happen.

Gotta read it first. Heat have around 62m in salaries committed for next season as it currently stands. The big three make up about 56m of that. So they would have to take a sizeable pay cut for Miami to have the most room. Author said something along the lines of "30m" in cap space. That would mean the big three opt out then sign for a combined 34m. Huge, huge paycuts.

Edit: I see you said you heard it on the radio. They "misquoted" the article.

It'll be more like what the big 3 envisioned when they joined together. Wade is out of his prime, but now they will have 3 true stars in their prime. Imagine Bron/Melo/Bosh starting with Wade coming off the bench

they should just all play for free and ask cp3, rondo, dwight, everyone to be on the team.

No! I hope the Melo doesn't sign with the Heat. The Heat need young 3&D players. Not another scorer. Miami has enough offense.

Wait, wait a second. I thought the CBA agreement was meant to prevent this sort of thing.

Isn't that the reasoning for OKC having to trade Harden, a guy they freaking drafted? And now it turns out Miami's big 3 can take a pay cut to get another top 5 talent? :wtf:

NBA will become a laughing stock of a league if this happens. Already have NFL and NHL fans who are buddies of mine that constantly take a dump on the NBA as is.

I really think if that happens, there would be a huge backlash from NBA fans. LeBron's legacy would take a hit. What's the point in having a team so stacked that competing against them is pointless? In b4 04 Lakers, Malone and GP weren't in their prime anymore.

The NBA is going to give them 2x the cap space of the other teams so they are able to sign Melo.

I'd rather get a big man capable of playing defense and rebounding though... that would fill some holes.

And then some youth, that play tough nosed ball.. all this team needs.

One of these ni99as will regret all of these paycuts once they go bankrupt.

Most likely Dwade with the child support he'll be paying now.

You realize that their basketball salary is just a small part of their overall salary right? Endorsements, shoe deals, etc...

keyword paycut

The OKC Thunder couldve kept Harden if Harden wasn't
greedy and wanted more than what OKC could afford to pay him

The CBA was made to prevent teams from outright jst buying talent and overspending everyone
It's why the Heat had to get rid of Miller,Anthony
bc of the new CBA and the tax

It says nothing about players taking paycuts

I don't like Melo to the Heat idea at all but Wade is also way out of his prime and the saddest thing is that in this Finals where there's so many old players he looks the oldest out there.

You realize money gets spent right? Especially after you retire still trying to live as if you're still a prime player in the league, the endorsements go bye bye unless you become a TV personality after, like Charles Barkley.

Plus , Child Support is no joke that shit follows you to the grave.

Besides it was a joke

It won't matter if they get Melo. If they start a losing slump, some Heat fans will still claim it's the Miami Cavaliers and after hyping up Melo to the death, will say "But it's Melo, never won anything" and beg for more help for Lebron.

Yes, I'd imagine it's even worse for Wade when you have custody of your kids and are still paying your ex-wife child support.

I can only imagine how many times we woulda beat these clowns in the Finals had Sterling, Cuban and Gilbert caused a fuss to Stern.

CP3, Kobe, and maybe even Dwight's lame ass woulda stayed had CP3 been here already. They woulda been our future and we wouldn't be having such problems getting FA's to come play.

Wanna see if none of these crook owners will be crying about this catastrophe here.

Gotta hand it to Lebron tho, only this fraud **** could trick the entire league into taking paycuts during their prime just to collude him rings, while he's making 30mil off the books. Melo,Wade or Bosh ain't got no Million dollar Beats deal, if i was them i'd tell him to go **** himself.

Ahhh, but don't forget about that new baby he had right before he purposed to Gabriel Union. This cat already had another child outta wedlock while he and her were separated for a short time.

He had another child by a different Woman before he got back with Union.

This is ****ing dumb. They dont actually have that cap space. As soon as the big three opt out, they have capholds (125%? of their current salary) until they re-sign.

I rather Sign Gortat and Lowry

Let Chalmers walk have lebron Wade and Lbj take slightly less let battier retire and odom and Beasley gone.

Starters Lowry,Wade,Lebron, Bosh, Gortat.. Unbeatable.

First off NumberSix doesn't know shit. The Heat would have to convince Haslem and Birdman to opt out of their contracts. And then there are these little things called capholds that would eat up the salary cap space.

Except for Lebron, all of that goes away once they're done playing. Lebron will be marketable beyond his playing days, but that's it.

I just heard on the radio that if the big 3 opt out and re-sign with a small paycut in addition to the other players coming off the books, the Heat will have the most cap space in the NBA this off-season.

This Melo thing is looking like it could really happen.
By small do you mean $6 or $7 million a year. Because yes, that is possible.
